Job description

The IT Technician provides first-line technical support across all City departments. This role troubleshoots hardware, software, and communication devices while supporting inventory, staff training, and system updates to ensure daily operations run smoothly., * Serve as the first point of contact for technical support needs, troubleshooting desktop/laptop PCs, VoIP phones, cellular devices, printers, and peripherals.

  • Respond quickly to support tickets, prioritizing issues to minimize downtime.
  • Assist users experiencing credential, MFA, and access-control issues.
  • Research best practices and new technologies and assist with implementation.
  • Contribute to development of SOPs and assist with staff education.
  • Train staff on City-issued devices and software.
  • Monitor City devices for potential misuse or security concerns.
  • Apply patches, updates, and security improvements to City devices.
  • Maintain accurate inventory records of IT equipment, devices, and parts.
  • Record and livestream City Council, Planning Commission, and other meetings.
  • Work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as needed.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Microsoft Office.
  • Familiarity with general office equipment.
  • Strong troubleshooting skills and ability to prioritize tasks.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Detail-oriented, organized, and able to multitask effectively.
  • Ability to work independently within established policies.

Education, Training and Experience:

  • Must possess a valid South Carolina driver's license.
  • Associate degree in a related field.
  • Two (2) years of helpdesk or computer repair experience.
  • CompTIA A+ certification.
  • Or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
