Data Platform Engineer

You will join a warm, collaborative team with plenty going on-from modernising legacy systems and rebuilds to AI integration. As a Senior, you will play a hands-on role in DBA management, driving platform improvements, building capacity, and ensuring our data is live, robust, and high-performing. Crucially, following a successful pilot, you will help accelerate our group-wide rollout of Microsoft Fabric.

Beyond the tech, you will be a key mentor and coach-supporting everyone from our apprentices to our more experienced Data Engineers. • Hands-on experience with Microsoft Fabric (Lakehouse, Data Factory, Warehousing) to lead and accelerate our active rollout.
• Advanced experience in T-SQL development, query optimization, and performance tuning within Microsoft SQL Server.
• Proven track record of DBA responsibilities, maintaining database efficiency, and supporting production data environments.
• Deep understanding of designing, building, and maintaining robust data pipelines, ETL/ELT processes, and data warehousing concepts (e.g., star schemas).
• Strong knowledge of data quality principles, validation, governance, and data integrity controls.
• Excellent communication skills-able to break down complex technical topics and communicate effectively with non-technical business stakeholders.

Required Work Experience

• Significant experience in data engineering or data platform management, with a track record of translating business requirements into scalable data solutions.
• Experience supporting modern data platform migrations, lakehouse architectures, or system modernization projects.
• Prior experience developing semantic models and using tools like Power BI is highly desirable, * Degree in IT, Science, Maths, or equivalent industry experience.
