The Convenience Manager is first and foremost responsible for guest relations and satisfaction by building a reputation for Ultimate Service. He/She is responsible for leading the efficient, effective, safe, legal and profitable operations of the Convenience/Fuel Department. He/She coordinates human relations for the Convenience/Fuel Department and ensures execution of all company and department policies and procedures on a timely basis., * When a guest enters my area or department, my first and most important responsibility becomes to acknowledge, greet, and engage that guest
- Responsible for hiring, training and performance management of team members
- Responsible for communication of information distribution to entire department
- Responsible for maintaining positive atmosphere, spirit and morale within the department
- Demonstrate effective leadership skills by managing time and delegation
- Develop both store and team members as well as future leaders utilizing available materials and systems
- Support and execute division concepts and programs
- Accountable for executing and meeting financial goals
- Responsible for identifying areas of opportunity throughout the store and within the department
- Ensure quality and consistent product availability and solutions to our guests
- Responsible for safeguarding, controlling and monitoring all department assets, ensuring policies and procedures are implemented for control of assets
- Practice safe work habits; maintain a high level of store cleanliness, organization, and a safe work environment; encourage team members to do the same
- Oversee that department systems and processes are utilized consistently and correctly
- Direct meetings with the department leadership team to effectively plan production and promotion goals
- Verifies team member schedules against business needs
- Coach and discipline team members as necessary in accordance with policy and procedures with support from Talent Management
- Verify all books and manuals are kept updated
- Maintain labor scheduling vs. allocated hours for different department within store
- Oversee inventory process and reporting
- Oversee that Food Safety Procedures are adhered to
- Approve all purchase orders and maintain adequate levels
- Demonstrate good conflict management skills
- Representative for the organization in local community affairs
- Perform other duties assigned by upper management
Requirements
- Must be 18 years of age or older.
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Minimum of one year of retail management experience.
- Prior food service management experience, including ordering, shrink control, recipe formation preferred
- Prior experience with high volume convenience, food service or fuel gallon sales
- Ability to manage large, cross functional teams, and hold individuals accountable
- Strong understanding of store level P&Ls, including sales, profit and expense categories
- Ability to obtain all certifications necessary and required to handle and sell tobacco, alcohol, fuel, propane, and food service items.
- The Department Manager is required to work the scheduled work shift as needed to meet the needs of the store guests and team members.
- Ability to work and communicate with all levels of management and subordinates in a professional manner
- Ability to self-motivate, problem-solve and work with minimal supervision
- Be able to perform all other physical aspects of the position including but not limited to bending, squatting, standing, lifting, climbing, pushing, pulling, and walking
- Ability to lift and carry items weighing up to 50 lbs. and push and pull up to 100 lbs
- Must possess technical skills to perform basic math and computer tasks (Word, Excel, Email).
- Ability to work at fast-paced, but efficient and controlled manner
- Must maintain Certified Food Safety Manager certification
- Bilingual English/Spanish a plus
- Ability to receive phone calls at home
- Must be flexible to work various hours/shifts, including weekends and holidays
- Must attend meetings, including out-of-town, requiring overnight stays
- Must be able to transfer to another store within the area
- Ability to function as a team member and get along with others
