Job description
The Cybersecurity Specialist main function is to protect the company's computer systems, networks, and data from cyber threats. They monitor systems for vulnerabilities, configure firewalls and encryption, and implement countermeasures against malware and hacking. They will implement the latest cybersecurity best practices to ensure compliance with federal and Department of War's cyber security requirements for a government defense contractor.
Responsibilities include but not limited to:
· Lead multi-functional team through successful Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC)
· Lead in developing, implementing and sustaining the organization's cybersecurity strategy that will, at a minimum, be in compliance of the CMMC requirements
· Continuously watching network traffic using tools like Security Information and Event Management (SIEM) systems to detect anomalies and unauthorized access
· Running security audits and mimicking cyberattacks (like penetration testing) to locate weaknesses before malicious hackers can exploit them
· Serving as first responders when a security breach occurs, working to contain the threat, recover stolen or locked data, and minimize business downtime.
· Advising management on risk management, designing security procedures, and ensuring the organization complies with data protection regulations.
· Implementing protective measures such as network firewalls, data encryption programs, and regular software patches.
· Manage various security documentation and update the System Security Plan (SSP) and Plan of Action and Milestones (POA&M) as needed.
· Communicate effectively with employees, vendors and customers.
· Oversee inventory of IT equipment to ensure compliance.
· Handles highly confidential information/materials and protect internal users from outside threats, including hackers, viruses, spyware and malware.
· Act as back-up to IT Team for IT support functions.
· Perform other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
Photo-Sonics, Inc. is an international leader in state-of-the art optical tracking systems in Chatsworth and has an immediate opening for a Cybersecurity Specialist. We're seeking a multi-disciplinary candidate who is self-motivated and is able to set and meet goals., · Bachelor's Degree
· Systems Security Certified Practitioner (SSCP) certification required
· Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification preferred
Experience:
· 5+ years recent, relevant experience.
· Working knowledge of CMMC, NIST SP 800-171, DFARS 252.204-7012, and FAR 52.204-21:
Desired Skills:
· Research, analyze, and interpret data on emerging cyber threats, attack vectors, and trends.
· Proficiency in computer networks, operating systems, security software, and hardware.
· Deep understanding of TCP/IP, VPNs, routing, and switching. Ability to configure and manage firewalls, intrusion detection systems (IDS), and proxies
· Provide quick identification and resolution of security incidents
· Ability to assess threats, evaluate risks, and devise effective solutions
· Ability to automate security tasks and understand attacker code
· Possess an understanding of the Cybersecurity Maturity Model Certification (CMMC) to protect Federal Contract Information (FCI) and Controlled Unclassified Information (CUI)
· Keeping pace with rapidly evolving cyber threats and adversarial tactics
· Exceptional organizational and follow up skills are needed for handling multiple projects.
· Ability to work with minimal supervision.
· Must have excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
· Proficient in Word and Excel.
· Strong analytical skills
· Ability to communicate orally and written in a professional manner.
· Ability to work overtime as needed.
Preferred Skills:
· Knowledge of DFARS and mandatory incident reporting
· Security implementation
· Strong communication, instructional design, and threat awareness skills to effectively educate employees
· Well versed in policy development, risk assessment, regulatory knowledge
Physical Requirements Include:
· This position requires the ability to walk, sit, talk and hear, stand, and use hands to reach, handle, or feel.
· Occasional climbing or balancing may be required in lab or field environments.
Position may require the ability to lift up to 15 lbs., stand, walk for long periods of time.
