Job description

Fairlane Products, a well-established manufacturing and distribution company, is looking for an IT Operations Manager to lead technology operations for the business. This is a hands-on role responsible for the systems, applications, and data that keep the company running day to day - our ERP platform, business databases, and internal and customer-facing applications.

As the sole IT function within the company, you will own the full operational stack: from ERP configuration and SQL Server databases to internal applications and eCommerce integrations. You will report directly to ownership and work closely with every department to keep systems reliable and aligned with how the business actually operates.

What You'll Do

  • Own our ERP and business systems: Administer, configure, upgrade, and maintain our ERP platform and related business applications, ensuring they support order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory, and production workflows.
  • Manage SQL Server databases: Maintain database health, performance, and backups; write and troubleshoot queries and stored procedures; support reporting and data integrity across business systems.
  • Support internal applications: Maintain and improve internally developed tools and integrations that connect our ERP, eCommerce, and operational systems.
  • Drive process improvement: Partner with sales, operations, purchasing, and accounting to identify inefficiencies and implement system-based solutions.
  • Deliver reporting and insight: Build dashboards and reports that give leadership visibility into operations and manage data imports/exports across systems.
  • Manage projects and vendors: Coordinate with software & hardware vendors, developers, and internal stakeholders to deliver upgrades, integrations, and improvements on schedule.
  • Support our eCommerce operations: Maintain our online stores and integrations and work with the team to ensure a smooth customer experience.
  • Support end users: Onboard new team members on business systems, troubleshoot application issues, and serve as the primary point of contact for IT operations.
  • Technical support: First line technical support for workstations, peripherals, networking and infrastructure., We're looking for depth in software operations and business systems - someone who can confidently own our ERP, databases, ecommerce, and internal applications - rather than broad infrastructure or network administration experience. This is a systems and data focused role at the center of how the business runs.

Requirements

Must-haves:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Systems, Computer Science, Business, or equivalent hands-on experience
  • 5+ years of experience administering (not just implementing or supporting) ERP or other core business systems in a manufacturing or distribution environment
  • Solid hands-on experience with SQL Server (or comparable RDBMS) writing queries, managing backups, data import & export, troubleshooting performance, and supporting reporting needs
  • Experience supporting or configuring business applications that integrate with ERP systems (eCommerce, EDI, custom internal tools)
  • Working knowledge of core business processes: order-to-cash, procure-to-pay, inventory management, and production scheduling
  • Strong troubleshooting, project management, and communication skills
  • Local to the Metro Detroit area (this is not a remote or hybrid position)

Nice-to-have:

  • Experience with eCommerce platforms and web-based storefronts
  • Familiarity with scripting or light development (VBScript, JavaScript, or similar) for building internal tools and reports
  • General familiarity with IT infrastructure in a SMB environment is helpful
  • Microsoft Office 365 (outlook, SharePoint, etc.)

What Makes You Stand Out

  • You're comfortable owning systems end-to-end, from configuration to daily support
  • You can translate between operational needs and technical solutions
  • You're self-directed and comfortable being the primary IT resource for the company
  • You're tech savvy enough to handle common networking, hardware, and peripheral issues
  • You're resourceful and comfortable using the web and AI to get the answers you need
  • You're detail and results oriented and focused on delivering positive outcomes within budget & on time
