Job description
CDW is seeking a highly experienced SQL Server DBA to serve as the technical expert for a critical SQL Server environment supporting large-scale transactional and reporting workloads. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys assessing existing environments, identifying performance improvements, and building a roadmap for long-term database health and scalability. Working with a small IT team that does not currently have a dedicated DBA, you'll evaluate the overall SQL Server landscape, implement best practices, and help establish a solid foundation for future growth. What You'll Do
- Perform a comprehensive assessment of the SQL Server environment and database architecture
- Review SQL Server configuration, database design, maintenance processes, and operational practices
- Analyze performance bottlenecks and identify optimization opportunities
- Evaluate indexing strategies for effectiveness, redundancy, and performance improvements
- Tune queries, execution plans, and database workloads to improve performance and scalability
- Recommend and implement SQL Server maintenance, monitoring, and performance best practices
- Provide guidance on long-term database health, capacity planning, and scalability
- Partner with IT leadership to establish database administration standards and processes

- Databases containing billions of rows of data
Requirements
- Extensive SQL Server DBA experience supporting enterprise production environments
- Strong expertise with SQL Server 2019
- Deep knowledge of performance tuning, troubleshooting, and database optimization
- Advanced experience with indexing strategies, execution plans, query tuning, and database maintenance
- Experience managing and optimizing databases containing billions of records
- Ability to independently assess environments and provide actionable recommendations
- Strong communication skills with the ability to explain technical findings to IT leadership, You're a hands-on SQL Server expert who can quickly evaluate an existing environment, identify what's working and what isn't, and develop a practical roadmap for optimization. You enjoy serving as the go-to database expert and helping organizations improve performance, reliability, and scalability through proven SQL Server best practices. Interested?
