Job description
We are seeking an Embedded Software Engineer to support cutting-edge space, flight, and ground system programs in Manhattan Beach, CA. In this role, you will develop and maintain embedded software solutions operating in resource-constrained environments with both soft and hard real-time requirements. You will work alongside multidisciplinary engineering teams to design, develop, test, and integrate mission-critical software supporting advanced aerospace and defense systems., Design, develop, document, test, and debug embedded software applications and systems.
- Develop software using modern Object-Oriented design principles and C++ programming techniques.
- Implement software solutions supporting real-time data processing, routing, analysis, and control system functions.
- Work within resource-constrained embedded environments utilizing real-time operating systems (RTOS).
- Collaborate with hardware engineers and multidisciplinary teams throughout the software development lifecycle.
- Analyze system requirements and develop software architectures to meet program objectives.
- Support software integration, verification, validation, and testing activities.
- Develop utility programs and software tools to support system functionality and performance.
- Ensure compliance with software engineering standards, best practices, and program requirements.
- Participate in Agile, Waterfall, or Spiral development processes as required.
Requirements
This is an exciting opportunity for a software engineer who thrives in a fast-paced development environment and enjoys solving complex technical challenges involving real-time systems, data processing, control systems, and hardware integration., Bachelor's Degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related technical discipline from an accredited university.
- 5+ years of professional software development experience.
- Strong experience with Object-Oriented Design (OOD) and C++ programming.
Experience developing software in a Real-Time Operating System (RTOS) environment such as:
- FreeRTOS
- RT-Linux
- Green Hills Integrity
- Similar RTOS platforms
- Ability to work in a fast-paced laboratory and development environment.
- Active Secret Security Clearance with the ability to maintain clearance., Experience across the complete software development lifecycle, including:
- System architecture
- Requirements analysis and definition
- Object-oriented software development
- Unit testing
- System integration and testing
- Experience working with laboratory test equipment, including:
- Signal generators
- Noise generators
- Logic analyzers
- Spectrum analyzers
- Network analyzers
- Power supplies and switching equipment
- Experience with hardware validation and verification of:
- RF systems
- Digital devices
- Mixed-signal hardware
- Familiarity with aerospace, defense, satellite, or space system development programs.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience working effectively on large, cross-functional engineering teams.
