Job description
We are seeking a Geographic Information System (GIS) Architect to join our team. This position involves designing, developing, and implementing GIS systems and solutions. The role is responsible for ensuring the GIS infrastructure is scalable, secure, and efficient to meet business needs. This is a part-time position with a preference for candidates in the DC Metro area who can report to an office in Arlington, VA, once a week, though remote candidates may be considered., * Perform primary ArcGIS Enterprise administration, including working on troubleshooting and infrastructure upgrades.
- Manage licenses for ArcGIS applications and extensions.
- Work with technical support to deploy cloud-based instances of vendor software.
- Collaborate with database administrators to troubleshoot Enterprise Geodatabase issues.
- Manage the ArcGIS Online organization and ArcGIS Enterprise deployment.
- Monitor ArcGIS Enterprise capacity, usage, CPU, hardware, storage, and services statistics.
- Manage cloud infrastructure to host ArcGIS Enterprise applications.
- Configure mapping dashboards or web map applications using Portal for ArcGIS.
- Conduct spatial analysis using Esri applications to derive insights from data.
- Use scripting languages such as JavaScript, Python, and SQL to manipulate data and automate workflows.
- Write and update technical documentation, including user manuals and training materials.
- Present information and results to clients and host training sessions.
Requirements
Education: A Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Geography, GIS, Computer Science, Management of Information Systems, Engineering, Data Analytics, or a similar field with a significant quantitative, mathematical, or analytical component is required.
Experience: Must have 7+ years of specialized experience administering Geographic Information Systems (GIS).
Technical Skills: Deep knowledge of a wide range of GIS and mapping systems that can be integrated into analytics tools. Professional experience with cloud infrastructures and databases is required.
Candidates must not have traveled outside the US for a combined total of 6 months or more in the last 5 years and must have resided in the US for the last 5 years., * Knowledge of logistics, shipping, transportation, or mailing industries.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills for effective interaction with customers and internal teams.
- Strong analytical skills to derive insights from data, feedback, and metrics.
- Experience in placing the customer at the center of decision-making.
- Proven problem-solving skills to identify and address customer issues and find creative solutions.
