Job description
We are seeking a highly skilled ERP Technical Developer / SAP ABAP & EDI Specialist to join our enterprise systems team on a 12-month contract. This role is dedicated to maintaining, supporting, and executing minor enhancements for a stable SAP ECC 6.0 production environment.
By managing day-to-day operations, production support, and partner integrations, you will enable our core team to focus on future-state strategic initiatives.
Important Candidate Note: This is not a Business Analyst role. We are seeking a hands-on developer. The primary evaluation criteria will be your practical ABAP programming skills, EDI/IDoc troubleshooting capabilities, and functional familiarity with Sales and Distribution (SD) workflows., * ABAP Development & Maintenance: Write, debug, and modify ABAP programs. Focus on delivery of small enhancements, custom reports, user exits, and system troubleshooting.
- Integration & EDI Operations: Support, troubleshoot, and maintain day-to-day EDI communications. Oversee trading partner onboarding and system maintenance.
- Document Flow & IDocs: Maintain and support inbound and outbound IDoc programs. Utilize monitoring tools to quickly isolate and resolve processing errors.
- Functional Support: Provide technical support for SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) modules and related business processes.
- Middleware Collaboration: Coordinate with our dedicated middleware team to validate data mapping, test end-to-end data flows, and ensure seamless translation between external formats and internal IDoc structures.
Requirements
Core ABAP & Functional (Must-Have)
- 5+ years of hands-on experience as an SAP ABAP Developer (specifically within SAP ECC 6.0 or higher).
- Deep development expertise in:
- Enhancements & User Exits
- Custom Reports (ALV)
- IDoc development and troubleshooting
- Strong functional knowledge of the SAP Sales & Distribution (SD) module and the standard order-to-cash business process.
EDI & Integration (Must-Have)
- Strong working knowledge of standard EDI transactions, specifically: 850, 855, 856, 810, 846, and 820.
- Proven experience onboarding new trading partners and validating EDI data mapping.
- Solid understanding of source-to-target data validation and testing protocols.
Preferred & Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with Seeburger EDI middleware (highly desirable, though mapping is handled by a dedicated external team).
- Prior experience in wholesale, distribution, or manufacturing industry environments.
- Past participation in 1 or 2 full-lifecycle SAP implementations.
- Ability to write SQL queries.
