Job description

We're looking for a front-end leaning full-stack engineer to ship features end-to-end across our Next.js and tRPC stack. This is a greenfield product - no legacy migrations, no tech debt to fight. You'll work directly alongside the founders and our design engineer in London to shape product architecture from day one. A central deliverable of this role is making the app beautiful and fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop. What You'll Do

  • Build new features end-to-end across the frontend (Next.js 15, React Server Components) and the tRPC API layer
  • Own making the app fully responsive across mobile, tablet, and desktop - a central deliverable of the role
  • Work closely with our design engineer in London to craft beautiful, functional UI using shadcn/ui and Tailwind CSS
  • Design and build backend functionality: tRPC procedures, data models, and integrations with PostgreSQL
  • Ensure strong accessibility (WCAG) and quality across browsers
  • Contribute tests (Vitest + Playwright) and take part in code review

Requirements

  • 3+ years of full-stack experience building B2B SaaS products, shipping features end-to-end
  • Proficiency in React, TypeScript, and the Next.js App Router
  • Experience with tRPC (or similar API layers) and PostgreSQL
  • Strong responsive/mobile-first design skills with Tailwind CSS
  • Experience with shadcn/ui, Figma, or design-system collaboration
  • Testing experience with Vitest, Playwright, or equivalents
  • Ability to work autonomously in a fast-paced, early-stage environment without detailed specs
  • A true full-stack, growth mindset - not narrowly specialized in only frontend or only backend

Bonus Points

  • Experience building AI chat interfaces or AI-powered products
  • Prior role at a legal tech company (e.g., Harvey, Spellbook, Norm AI)
  • Experience at an early-stage startup (seed or Series A)

Education

  • Computer science or STEM degree (bachelor's or master's), or a strong public GitHub portfolio in lieu of a traditional CS background

Tech Stack

Next.js 15 · React 19 · TypeScript (strict) · tRPC · Node.js · PostgreSQL · Tailwind CSS · shadcn/ui · next-intl · Vitest · Playwright Details

  • Location: San Francisco, CA (hybrid). Based in or willing to relocate to SF.
  • Travel: Willingness to travel to the UK or Norway roughly once a month.
  • Work authorization: Visa sponsorship is not available. Candidates must have existing work authorization in the US (or UK/EU for our other offices).
  • Reports to: Stefan Mandaric (co-founder)

Benefits & conditions

$150,000 - $200,000 a year - Full-time

About the company

Moritz Legal is building an AI-native law firm - a legal practice designed from the ground up around AI rather than bolting it on afterward. We started by building AI software for lawyers, but quickly realized that even better tools couldn't overcome the misaligned incentives of the billable-hour model. So we became the law firm ourselves, using the tools we build in-house to deliver faster, better, and more affordable legal services to fast-growing tech companies. At the core is Moritz, our SaaS platform for legal case management that powers swift document reviews, intelligent drafting, and effortless legal research. We're a small, tight-knit founding team spread across San Francisco, London, and Oslo, backed by $9M in funding. The culture is fast-paced, ownership-driven, and deeply collaborative.
