Mainframe Architect

Senior Mainframe Architect responsible for designing, optimizing, and modernizing large-scale enterprise mainframe systems. The role requires deep expertise in core mainframe technologies and proven experience delivering optimization and database modernization initiatives., * Define and drive mainframe architecture, optimization, and modernization strategies

• Lead end-to-end mainframe optimization initiatives, including MIPS reduction and performance tuning
• Design and implement solutions across COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and Datacom environments
• Execute database modernization initiatives(e.g., Datacom to DB2 or cloud-native platforms)
• Perform application and system assessments, dependency mapping, and solution design
• Collaborate with business and technical stakeholders to align optimization,modernization roadmap, and execution
• Ensure performance, scalability, and reliabilityof mainframe-based systems
• Provide technical leadership, design reviews, and guidance to delivery teams

• Strong hands-on expertise in COBOL, CICS, JCL, VSAM, and Datacom
• Proven experience in mainframe optimization projects and modernization execution
• Deep understanding of mainframe architecture, batch & online processing, and performance tuning
• Experience in database modernization and data layer transformation
• Ability to lead architecture design, estimation, and solution governance

Preferred / Good-to-Have

• Experience in Retail / Food industry domains
• Exposure to AI-led modernization tools (e.g., IBM BOB, IBM Watson Code Assistant for Z)

Familiarity with cloud and distributed system integration
