Job description

Install, configure, administer, and maintain IBM z/VM environments.

Provision and manage Linux on IBM Z (s390x) virtual servers.

Perform system upgrades, migrations, patching, and capacity planning.

Monitor system performance and optimize resource utilization.

Support high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
-
Configure and maintain virtual networking, storage, and security components.
-
Troubleshoot operating system, virtualization, and infrastructure issues.
-
Implement automation for provisioning, monitoring, and system administration tasks.
-
Collaborate with application, database, storage, and network teams.
-
Develop and maintain technical documentation and operational procedures.
-
Participate in on-call support and production incident resolution.
Requirements
-
5+ years of experience supporting IBM Mainframe environments.
-
Strong hands-on experience with:
o z/VM
o Linux on IBM Z (RHEL, SUSE, or Ubuntu for s390x)
o IBM Z hardware platforms
o Virtual machine provisioning and administration
- Experience with:
o DIRMAINT
o RACF or equivalent security administration
o TCP/IP networking
o Shared File System (SFS)
o CMS
o CP commands and system management
- Strong Linux administration skills:
o User management
o Storage management
o System tuning
o Shell scripting
o Performance troubleshooting
- Experience supporting virtualized enterprise workloads.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with:
o IBM z16, z15, z14, or z13 platforms
o LinuxONE environments
o IBM Wave for z/VM
o OpenShift on IBM Z
o Kubernetes
o Docker / Podman containers
o Ansible automation
o Git and DevOps tools
- Familiarity with:
o Db2
o WebSphere
o MQ
o CICS integration
o Hybrid cloud architectures (AWS, Azure, OCI)
- Experience with security and compliance frameworks in financial services environments.
Education
- Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
