Job description
As the Junior Systems Administrator, you will join a team of highly driven, supportive, and skilled professionals engaged in supporting program management, technical, or business cases across the NAVAIR community., * Install, configure, and support an organization's local area network (LAN), wide area network (WAN), and Internet systems, or a segment of a network system
- Analyze, test, troubleshoot, and evaluate existing IT systems
- Perform maintenance to ensure IT Systems operate correctly with minimal interruption
- Optimize the functionality and performance of hardware and software systems
- Implement and maintain backup recovery plans and capabilities
- Respond to unexpected or unauthorized service interruptions and outages
- Diagnose software and hardware failures to resolution
- Ensure compliance with organizational policies, cybersecurity requirements, and configuration management processes
- Test operating system and software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes
- Administer and maintain newly deployed hardware and software assets throughout their lifecycle
- Assist users with workstation setup, account provisioning, and access requests
- Assist with the installation, configuration, and troubleshooting of desktop, server, and peripheral equipment
- Maintain system documentation, inventories, and configuration records
Requirements
SMX is looking for a highly motivated Systems Administrator with demonstrated experience to maintain various IT systems. This position will provide On-Site support at our customers location on Patuxent River NAS in southern Maryland., * Clearance Required: Top Secret
- At least one year of experience in system administration performing the functional duties of this position
- CompTIA Security+ or another DoD 8570-compliant certification
- Knowledge of system administration principles, theories, and concepts
- Experience troubleshooting hardware, software, and user account issues
- Experience supporting Windows workstations, servers, and peripheral devices
Desired Skills & Experience
- Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline
- Experience with Linux operating systems
- Experience administering IT assets and configuration management processes
- Experience supporting end users in an enterprise environment
- Familiarity with backup and disaster recovery concepts
- Experience in a DoD or NAVAIR environment
