Job description
To maintain the technology equipment throughout the schools in the district in a condition of operating excellence so that full educational use of them may be made at all times in accordance with the mission of the school district., * Perform network administration and problem resolution as they pertain to the network (local and wide area)
- Install, configure and maintain all LAN/WAN hardware such as file servers, routers, firewalls, switches, VolP phone system, and networked peripheral devices
- Assists with access control systems
- Maintain inventory of network devices
- Manage backup systems
- Assists with maintenance of Internet content filtering hardware and software
- Administer user accounts across systems
- Assists in the selection of technology equipment and systems
- Assists with training district personnel in the proper use of technology
- Support with device repairs: desktops, laptops, and Chromebooks
- Promotes good public relations through professional and ethical execution of job responsibilities.
- Performs other duties as directed.
The job of Systems Administrator involves adapting to a changing educational environment and therefore, while accurate, this list is not exhaustive.
Requirements
- Associate's degree in computer technology or equivalent technician training and on the job experience; industry certifications a plus
- Five years' experience in network installation, maintenance, and administration, preferred
- Experience with network device configurations: routers, switches, servers, printers, desktops, Chromebooks, cameras, etc.
- Understanding of network architectures including LAN/WAN topologies and virtual networking
- Knowledge and experience with Windows OS (workstation and server) and Microsoft Active Directory
- Experience with network and user based software applications such as Microsoft Active Directory, Microsoft Office, Google Suite for Education, and VMware
- Time management and organizational skills
- Excellent interpersonal and follow-up skills
- Ability to work without direct supervision
