Job description

As an Applications Engineer (AE) you will provide technical support, applications assistance, and training for the Vacuum Automation (VA) product line in support of Piab's sales strategies and objectives. The AE will work very closely with Piab's area sales managers, customers, and channel partners through the entire sales process: pre-sale (quotations & technical support), order processing and post-sale support (start-up, troubleshooting, etc)., · Develop and maintain knowledge and expertise on all products within the Vacuum Automation product line.

· Provide technical and application support for end-customers, channel partners, and Piab associates via inbound calls, email & web chat tools.

· Develop quotations, including all system component information, accessories, technical data, and CAD drawings,

· Input and edit customer orders for the Vacuum Automation product line as needed.

· Assist in responding to customer order, stock status and order expediting inquiries on an as needed basis.

· Conduct lab tests and product trials to properly identify and validate system design recommendations. Records Tests in Database.

· Assist in the development, organization and presentation of product training material, product configurators, and sales support tools.

· Coordinate and communicate all appropriate project activity with Piab Area Sales Managers (ASM), District Sales Managers (DSM), Distributors and Manager, Applications Engineering & Technical Services - NA, as appropriate.

· Utilize Salesforce and additional software tools to track, document and disseminate sales support activity.

· Provide field assistance and sales engineering support.

· Assist in the setup and break down of tradeshow booth/equipment and participate in tradeshow staffing.

· Conduct on and off-site channel partner and customer training sessions.

· Compile competitive analysis and support material to assist ASMs, channel partners and customers in the sales process.

· Other duties may be assigned on an "as need" basis

· Follow the CIR (Continual Improvement Report) guidelines and be responsible for reporting non-conformities.

In this role you are required to act accordingly to the Piab Code of Conduct and know and follow the Piab values, mission, and routines. This role also requires occasional travel to Piab end customers in support of the VA product line.

Key interfaces

The Applications Engineer (AE) Vacuum Automation (VA) reports to the Manager, Applications Engineering & Technical Services - NA, and is part of the VA Applications engineering team. The AE will work closely with the complete North American VA team: Including sales, operations, distribution, and financing.

Requirements

  • Excellent English skills: verbal and written.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft office: Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, etc.
  • 3D Cad experience: preferred, SolidWorks, Solid Edge (Siemens).
  • General understanding of pneumatics and pneumatic systems.
  • Demonstrates strong leadership skills.
  • Able to work as part of a team, but also independently when needed.
  • Able to be creative in problem solving situations.
  • Customer service centric with strong communication skills.
  • Experience with online webinar and conference tools (Teams, GoToMeeting, etc).
  • Experience with Salesforce CRM is a plus.
  • Spanish language fluency a plus.

Experience and educational background

  • BS degree in engineering
  • 2-3 years of experience in technical applications, sales & support a plus
