Fidelity Labs is building a new generation of enterprise AI products embedded in customer-facing experiences across Fidelity's businesses. We are seeking a senior engineering leader to serve as the technical and engineering organizational owner of ARGOS-a foundational platform enabling safe, scalable, and compliant AI capabilities for millions of customers.
We are an ambitious team committed to innovation and flawless execution. You will report directly to the Managing Director and collaborate with the senior leadership team, ensuring the ARGOS platform meets its ambitious goals. Our team thrives on determined efforts to successfully implement world-class technology solutions.
This role combines hands-on technical leadership, platform architecture ownership, and engineering organization building. You will define the technical direction of the platform, build and lead a high-caliber engineering team, and partner closely with product, legal, compliance, security, and executive leadership to bring AI capabilities into production responsibly.
You will operate with significant autonomy, clear decision rights within the platform domain, and executive-level visibility. Your work will directly shape how AI is designed, governed, and delivered.
Requirements

You bring 13+ years of software engineering experience, including 5 years leading engineering teams.

Your expertise lies in crafting low-latency distributed systems, hands-on experience with LLMs, fundamental log management architectures, and navigating compliance in regulated industries.

You've hired and managed teams of at least 15 engineers and possess deep AWS knowledge.

Minimum 10 years of professional software engineering experience leveraging modern technology stacks, including Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, AWS CDK CLI, and/or Golang, with a proven track record of delivering scalable solutions.

Your ability to make high-stakes technical decisions with incomplete information and document outcomes is outstanding.

Provide clear, concise progress reporting to senior leadership.

Communicate risks, tradeoffs, and milestones with transparency and precision.

Bachelors or equivalent with 15+ years of experience or Masters with 13+ years of experience in Computer Science is required, with an advanced degree or equivalent experience in ML/AI research as a plus.

- Paid time off, Fidelity's Onsite Working Model Fidelity is transitioning to a full-time onsite working model through a phased rollout across regions and roles. Currently, some roles and locations require 100% onsite presence, while others require less. Onsite expectations are likely to evolve as the rollout continues. This transition does not apply to fully remote roles. The base salary range for this position is $140,000-285,000 USD per year.
Placement in the range will vary based on job responsibilities and scope, geographic location, candidate's relevant experience, and other factors.
Base salary is only part of the total compensation package. Depending on the position and eligibility requirements, the offer package may also include bonus or other variable compensation.
