Job description

Torch Technologies is seeking a to join our team. This role is ideal for a highly motivated, senior-level professional who will be responsible for provisioning, maintaining, patching, and securing both Windows and Linux-based systems. This position supports the Air Force Research Laboratory Munitions Directorate (AFRL/RW) Research and Development (R&D) mission.

As a your duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Conducting comprehensive software assessments.
  • Provisioning virtual machines.
  • Implementing critical security configurations.
  • Troubleshooting complex system issues.
  • Ensuring robust compliance with DoW security standards.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field (or 5 years of additional relevant experience in lieu of a degree).

  • 7-10 years of experience in systems administration, systems engineering, or a closely related role with progressively increasing responsibility.

  • Active IAT level II or higher certification (or equivalent DoW 8570/8140 Baseline Certification).

  • Experience provisioning and managing Virtual Machines (VMs).

  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems.

  • Strong individual troubleshooting, diagnostics, and problem-solving skills.

  • Experience patching systems and managing vulnerability remediation workflows.

  • Professional experience conducting software assessments and evaluations.

  • Understanding of system registry configurations (registry configs).

  • Proven experience implementing and compliance-testing with DISA STIGs, CIS Benchmarks, and NIST SP 800-series security controls.

  • Strong customer service, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Active Secret clearance (required to start) and the ability to maintain a DoW Clearance.

  • Previous experience supporting DoW network and systems environments.

  • Advanced relevant technical or security certifications (e.g., CISSP, CASP+, MCSE, RHCSA/RHCE).
