Job description

Health Center Inc. (also known as The New York Hotel Trades Council and Hotel Association of NYC, Inc Employee Benefit Funds) is a NYC based healthcare organization with ambulatory care facilities staffed with a wide range of health professionals to provide extensive medical and diagnostic services. We offer Primary Care, Dental, Radiological, Vision, Mental Health, and other Specialist services at our facilities at no charge to our Union members (which consist of hotel employees), removing the financial roadblock that many people face when trying to obtain quality medical or dental care. The Server Engineer is a critical role that focuses on ensuring the smooth deployment, management, and support of datacenter (Server and Storage) and cloud-based systems for the entire organization. They will utilize their expertise with hardware, VMware, Windows Server Operating Systems, Scripting, Network Protocols and Security to build and maintain infrastructure environments required to provide services to our colleagues, partners and members. They will play a key role in supporting projects such as daily operations, technical currency/compliance, automation, & Disaster Recovery while embracing new technologies to increase the quality and quantity of services to our members., * Maintain secure, reliable and compliant IT operations for healthcare systems and patient care applications.

  • Support infrastructure underpinning of Cerner EHR software and other clinical systems technologies
  • Collaborate with clients, partners and colleagues to understand their IT needs and challenges, providing expert advice and support for hardware, operating systems & tools for troubleshooting, and optimization of the systems.
  • Install, configure, and maintain server hardware and software
  • Monitor server performance and troubleshoot issues
  • Perform regular security audits and apply necessary patching and updates
  • Develop and implement server policies and procedures
  • Ability to collaborate with network engineers and other IT staff
  • Assist with the management of server backups and disaster recovery plans
  • Analyze system logs and identify potential issues
  • Ensure server compliance with licensing and regulations
  • Create and maintain documentation and diagrams related to the infrastructure environment
  • Provide technical support and guidance to users and other staff
  • Plan and execute server upgrades and migrations
  • Ensure server availability, performance, and scalability
  • Implement and manage virtualization solutions, specifically VMWARE
  • Ability to build, configure and manage cloud-based server environments (Azure)
  • Conduct capacity planning and resource optimization

Requirements

  • 5-7 years of experience in a similar role
  • Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field
  • Experience in healthcare operations to maintain clinical systems including but not limited to electronic health records (EHR) and picture archiving and communication systems (PACS)
  • Domain expertise: prior work experience in a healthcare technology or hospital setting preferred
  • Preferred certifications such as Microsoft Certified Solutions Expert (MCSE) or CompTIA Server+
  • 3-5 years of experience with server virtualization technologies such as VMware and Windows Server administration.
  • Proficiency in scripting languages like PowerShell or Python
  • Experience with both Windows and Linux server operating systems
  • Ability to manage cloud platforms (Pref: Azure & M365)
  • Experience with Mail and Backup solutions (ex: Exchange Online, Rubrik, Mimecast)
  • Experience with multi-factor authentication technologies (ex: Duo)
  • Experience with CITRIX application services and Netscaler technologies.
  • Experience with systems monitoring/alerting systems (ex: PRTG)
  • Experience with backup, replication and disaster recovery solutions (ex: Zerto)
  • Understanding of server performance tuning and optimization
  • Experience in server configuration and maintenance
  • Ability to handle physical server setups and upgrades
  • Experience with automation tools and technologies (RPA - Robotics process automation - ex: PowerAutomate, UiPath, Automation Anywhere)
  • Experience working with ticketing systems and ITSM solutions (ex: ManageEngine)
