Job description
Position Overview : The consultant will work closely with application development teams, z/OS system support personnel, database administrators, vendors, and State agencies. The ideal candidate must be highly self-motivated, collaborative, technically strong, and capable of working independently in a complex, fast-changing environment., * Provide hands-on IDMS database administration, monitoring, deployment, and application support.
- Maintain development, test, staging, and production IDMS databases.
- Develop operational procedures and database-management standards.
- Enable and tune IDMS features to improve performance within the z/OS mainframe environment.
- Generate and analyze IDMS performance reports and implement performance improvements.
- Support native IDMS and relational IDMS databases using SQL.
- Administer security for ADS/O applications, IDD objects, and relational database objects.
- Advise development teams on database design changes, extensions, and implementation approaches.
- Coordinate with vendors, providers, professional organizations, and other State agencies.
- Provide technical effort estimates, project planning support, and resource-allocation input.
- Participate in a 24×7 on-call support rotation.
Requirements
Candidate Location Requirement: Candidate must reside within the continental United States and be comfortable working EST hours. The requirement also states that South Carolina residency is required; candidate eligibility should be confirmed before submission., * 15+ years of IDMS deployment and operations experience in a z/OS environment on an IBM z-series mainframe.
- 10+ years of experience with the IDMS SQL option, including:
- Creating and supporting relational-model IDMS databases.
- Using SQL syntax with IDMS databases.
- Implementing SQL access to native IDMS databases.
- 15+ years of experience deploying and administering IDMS security, including:
- ADS/O application structures.
- IDD objects.
- Relational database objects.
- 15+ years of IDMS application programming experience using:
- COBOL.
- ADS/O.
- Native IDMS and SQL-based database access.
- 12+ years of IBM High-Level Assembler experience on z/OS.
- 10+ years of experience with IDMS Perfmon online monitoring and report generation.
- Strong project-planning, technical estimation, communication, presentation, and stakeholder-management skills.
Preferred Skills
- RACF security knowledge.
- Application change-management experience.
- Healthcare or health-insurance technology experience.
- Experience managing PHI and PII data.
- Medicaid Management Information System experience.
- Medicaid operations experience.
- Public-sector or State government experience.
- Secondary experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
Education Bachelor's degree in a technical, business, or related field, or equivalent professional experience. A master's degree is desirable.
