Job description

We are seeking an Application Engineer for our European Technical Organization, with focus on the Calibre line of products-the market leader in physical verification and circuit verification. You'll work closely with customers and our sales team to manage technical engagements that support sales campaigns and drive adoption of Siemens EDA Calibre software tools.

This role is based in France and you'll be part of a team covering Europe. You should anticipate some international travel within Europe and the US. You'll thrive in a collaborative, international environment where your technical expertise directly impacts customer success and business growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop close relationships with customers to assess their technical requirements and identify how Siemens EDA Calibre solutions can address their needs through proactive outreach, presentations, demonstrations, and technical benchmarks

  • Drive product adoption by creating methodologies and flows, including infrastructure integration into customer environments, identifying pilot projects, and debugging new methodologies

  • Uncover and qualify new opportunities, assess technical viability, and communicate findings clearly to the sales team to establish success criteria for technical engagements

  • Provide technical leadership on all aspects of sales campaigns, contributing to account and area technical business plans

  • Share account, evaluation, competitor, and technology insights proactively with peers, sales teams, management, and product divisions to strengthen competitive positioning

  • Actively participate in outbound marketing activities including trade shows, workshops, seminars, and webcasts

Requirements

Required:

  • Bachelor of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Experience as an Application Engineer or significant experience in customer environments with physical verification (DRC, DFM) and circuit verification tools (LVS, PERC, PEX)

  • Broad understanding of physical verification, circuit verification, extraction, and DFM methodologies and flows

  • Expert-level scripting and programming skills (TCL/Tk, Python) in CAD environments

  • Working familiarity with Unix and Linux operating systems

  • Strong communication skills and ability to explain complex technical concepts clearly

Preferred:

  • Master of Science in Electrical Engineering or equivalent

  • Experience with rule deck writing (Calibre TVF, SVRF)

  • Hands-on experience or deep understanding of EM/IR analysis

  • Familiarity with competitive tools, netlist interfaces, and industry formats

  • Knowledge of compute farms, grid settings, and monitoring

  • Background as an analog or physical designer
