Job description

  • We will support maintenance, upgrades, and general housekeeping across Linux environments.
  • We will manage Red Hat Enterprise Linux production systems.
  • We will use scripting to automate operational tasks.
  • We will plan and prioritise project delivery activities.
  • We will communicate with stakeholders and support domain-wide engagement.
  • We will manage risk, compliance, audit, and security obligations.
  • We will implement disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
  • We will work within established request, problem, project, and ITIL processes.

  • VMware, We are recruiting an experienced Linux RHEL Engineer for a hybrid role requiring onsite attendance 2 to 3 days per week. The position is inside IR35 and supports ongoing Linux platform maintenance and delivery work. Our environment values ownership, innovation, strong stakeholder engagement, and high-quality service delivery. We also welcome additional experience with JBoss, Linux performance tuning, failover clustering, Kerberos, Cisco UCS hardware, Puppet or similar configuration management tools, and big data platforms such as Hortonworks or Hadoop.

Requirements

  • We require previous experience in a technical role within Linux platform support and/or delivery.
  • We require experience managing Red Hat Enterprise Linux production systems, including RHEL 7 through RHEL 10.
  • We require experience using scripting to automate tasks.
  • We require strong planning and prioritisation skills for project delivery activities.
  • We require good interpersonal and communication skills.
  • We require strong analytical and troubleshooting skills.
  • We require experience with virtualisation technologies, including Linux under VMware.
  • We require experience working within the ITIL framework.
  • We require experience managing systems with RHN Satellite.
  • We require a detail-oriented, process-driven, highly innovative mindset with a strong sense of ownership.
  • We require familiarity with request, problem, and project management processes and tools.
  • We require the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at senior and domain-wide levels.
  • We require experience managing risk, compliance, audit, and security obligations, including disaster recovery and business continuity procedures.
