Job description

The role offers a varied and hands-on introduction to product design engineering. You will contribute to both the continuous improvement of existing products and the creation of new designs - taking concepts from prototype through to production.

The successful candidate will have completed a Product Design Degree or Industrial Design Degree and will be given the opportunity to apply and expand these skills. You will contribute directly to our design ethos by creating new and updated components used in the operation of window covering products distributed globally.

You will work across the full development cycle, including conceptual design, prototyping, testing, validation, and final component approval. In-house development provides valuable Design for Manufacture (DFM) experience and real-world exposure to manufacturing processes. Our on-site facilities also offer hands-on learning in injection moulding, steel pressing, and polymer extrusion.

Tools & Technologies:

You will work in a fully 3D design environment using the latest software tools, including:

  • Autodesk Inventor for part, assembly, and detailed manufacturing drawings
  • FEA (Finite Element Analysis)
  • MoldFlow analysis
  • In-house prototyping and manufacturing equipment

Key Responsibilities:

Design for Manufacture - Develop practical DFM skills through hands-on project work.

Engineering principles - Apply core mechanical and product design fundamentals.

Manufacturing process design - Gain understanding of injection moulding, metal pressing, and extruded profile requirements.

Mechanical design - Contribute to the development of mechanical components and assemblies.

Materials selection - Evaluate material performance and suitability for product applications.

3D CAD modelling - Use Autodesk Inventor Product Design Suite to create new and updated designs for window shading systems.

Rapid prototyping - Produce prototypes using 3D printing technologies.

Testing & validation - Support design validation through structured testing and development.

Cross-department collaboration - Work with internal teams to produce manufacturing and installation instructions.

Visualisation & rendering - Create images and renders for catalogues and promotional materials.

Requirements

  • Strong work ethic
  • Genuine interest in engineering and design
  • Willingness to learn new skills
  • Completion of a Product Design degree or Industrial Design Degree

Candidates should be team-oriented and able to show a strong drive to help the team and its products progress. You should be eager to learn new skills, grow individually, and develop with the business. You will be able to deliver measurable results and be willing to take a hands-on approach.
