Job description

We are looking for an experienced Senior Systems Administrator to play a key role in maintaining and improving our internal IT environment. You will act as a senior technical specialist within the Internal IT team, helping ensure our systems are secure, reliable and scalable to support a growing organisation.

In this senior hands-on role, you will work on technical issues, support junior members of the team, contribute to infrastructure improvement initiatives and help drive operational best practices across internal systems and services. This is an excellent opportunity for someone who enjoys combining deep technical expertise with continuous improvement, automation and knowledge sharing in a fast-paced technology business.

Requirements

  • Strong experience in systems administration within a Windows and MacOS environment
  • Strong understanding of Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP and core Microsoft infrastructure services
  • Proven experience administering Microsoft 365 including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint and Entra ID
  • Hands-on experience managing Microsoft Intune and modern endpoint environments (Windows 10/11,macOS, and iOS)
  • Strong virtualisation experience, particularly with Hyper-V
  • Experience managing backup solutions, disaster recovery planning, and resilience testing
  • Proven networking knowledge including LAN/WAN, VLANs, VPNs and firewall technology
  • Good PowerShell scripting skills and an automation-first mindset
  • Hands on experience working with Infrastructure as Code or configuration management tools such as Terraform or Ansible
  • Ability to act as a senior escalation point and resolve complex technical issues
  • Someone who takes ownership of core systems and naturally drives stability and improvement
  • An individual who is calm and methodical when dealing with major incidents and high-impact issues
  • A strong problem solver who can balance day-to-day operational support with longer-term improvements
  • Someone who enjoys mentoring colleagues and raising technical standards across the team
  • A proactive mindset with the confidence to identify risks, suggest improvements, and follow through to delivery
  • A clear communicator who can explain technical topics to non-technical stakeholders
  • A team player who works well across departments and supports a collaborative Internal IT culture
  • Experience supporting GRC functions relating to cyber security and audits, drawing on previous experience working in heavily regulated financial/insurance or legal sectors

Desirables:

  • Linux server administration experience
  • Familiarity with DevOps tools and Git-based workflows
  • Experience supporting VoIP or Microsoft Teams telephony
  • Exposure to IIS or internal web application hosting
  • Experience participating in disaster recovery simulations and business continuity exercises
