Job description

At DualTech Digital Systems Ltd, we help organisations improve the way they operate through reliable software, cloud solutions and connected business platforms. Our Belfast technology team works on practical digital products used by clients across the United Kingdom., We are looking for a Software Engineer who can design, build and maintain dependable software applications. You will work closely with product managers, business analysts, quality assurance specialists and other engineers to turn business requirements into secure and scalable technical solutions.

This is a mid level position suited to an engineer who is comfortable managing assigned development work independently while contributing to technical discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Responsibilities:

Software Development:

Design, develop and maintain reliable software applications based on agreed business and technical requirements.

Application Improvement:

Review existing applications and identify opportunities to improve performance, usability, security and maintainability.

Code Quality:

Write clean and well structured code. Participate in peer reviews and follow agreed coding standards and development practices.

Testing and Troubleshooting:

Create unit tests, investigate software defects and work with quality assurance colleagues to resolve technical issues before release.

Technical Collaboration:

Work with product managers, analysts and other engineers to clarify requirements, estimate development work and agree practical technical solutions.

System Integration:

Develop and maintain integrations between internal systems, third party services, databases and application programming interfaces.

Documentation:

Prepare clear technical documentation covering application features, system changes, configuration requirements and deployment procedures.

Release Support:

Assist with software releases, production monitoring and the investigation of application issues when required.

Continuous Improvement:

Contribute ideas that improve development processes, application reliability and team productivity.

Requirements

At least 3 years of professional software development experience in a commercial or business technology environment.

Technical Skills:

Practical experience with one or more programming languages or frameworks such as JavaScript, TypeScript, C Sharp, Java, Python, React, Angular or Node.js.

Database Knowledge:

Experience working with relational databases such as SQL Server, PostgreSQL or MySQL.

Development Tools:

Confidence using Git, issue tracking systems, debugging tools and standard software development workflows.

Cloud Knowledge:

Experience with Microsoft Azure, Amazon Web Services or another cloud platform would be beneficial.

Problem Solving:

You can analyse technical problems, identify the likely cause and recommend a practical solution.

Communication:

You can explain technical information clearly to both technical and non technical colleagues.

Teamwork:

You are comfortable working within a collaborative engineering team and contributing constructively during planning sessions and code reviews.
