Job description
We are seeking a skilled Custom Millwork Specialist to fabricate, assemble, finish, and install high-quality custom cabinetry, architectural millwork, built-ins, trim, panels, doors, moldings, and related wood products for residential and commercial projects. This role requires strong craftsmanship, accurate measurement, blueprint and shop drawing interpretation, safe tool and machinery operation, and a commitment to producing work that meets project specifications, deadlines, and quality standards., · Read and interpret architectural drawings, shop drawings, blueprints, cut lists, specifications, and field measurements.
· Measure, lay out, cut, shape, assemble, and install custom millwork components with a high degree of accuracy.
· Fabricate cabinetry, casework, doors, drawers, shelving, face frames, wall panels, moldings, trim, reception desks, and specialty built-ins.
· Operate hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery such as table saws, panel saws, routers, jointers, planers, sanders, edgebanders, and CNC equipment when applicable.
· Select, handle, and work with materials including hardwoods, plywood, MDF, veneers, laminates, solid surface materials, hardware, adhesives, and finishes.
· Assemble components using appropriate joinery, fasteners, glue, clamps, dowels, biscuits, pocket screws, or other approved methods.
· Install hardware including hinges, drawer slides, pulls, locks, catches, soft-close mechanisms, and specialty fittings.
· Prepare surfaces for finishing through sanding, filling, edge-banding, laminating, staining, painting, sealing, or touch-up work as needed.
· Inspect completed work for fit, alignment, finish quality, durability, and compliance with customer and project requirements.
· Coordinate with shop leads, project managers, designers, installers, contractors, and other trades to resolve build or installation issues.
· Maintain tools, equipment, materials, and work areas in a clean, organized, and safe condition.
· Follow all company safety procedures, OSHA standards, equipment operating guidelines, and jobsite requirements., This is a full-time position. This position would be required to work four 10 hour shifts a week, Monday through Thursday, with possibility of Fridays. Overtime is possible along with early starts, or schedule adjustments based on production demands, delivery schedules, inventory needs, or business requirements.
Requirements
· Previous experience in custom millwork, cabinetmaking, finish carpentry, architectural woodwork, or a related woodworking trade.
· Ability to read and understand shop drawings, plans, measurements, elevations, and specifications.
· Strong measuring, layout, cutting, assembly, and installation skills.
· Working knowledge of common woodworking materials, hardware, joinery methods, adhesives, and finishing processes.
· Proficiency with hand tools, power tools, and woodworking machinery.
· High attention to detail and ability to produce clean, accurate, high-quality work.
· Ability to troubleshoot fit, alignment, field condition, and production issues.
· Reliable attendance, strong work ethic, and ability to work independently or as part of a team.
· Ability to follow verbal and written instructions and communicate professionally with team members and supervisors.
Preferred Qualifications
· Experience with commercial architectural millwork, custom cabinetry, or high-end residential projects.
· Experience operating CNC routers, edgebanders, beam saws, or related automated woodworking equipment.
· Familiarity with Cabinet Vision, Microvellum, AutoCAD, or similar drafting/CAM software.
· Experience with plastic laminate, veneer, solid surface, hardwood, and specialty materials.
· Field installation experience, including scribing, leveling, anchoring, fitting, and final adjustment.
· Forklift certification, OSHA training, or other relevant safety certifications.
Physical Requirements and Work Environment
· Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, reach, climb, and work with hands for extended periods.
· Ability to lift, carry, push, or pull materials and finished components; employer may define a specific weight requirement.
· Comfort working in a shop and/or active jobsite environment with dust, noise, tools, machinery, and moving materials.
· Ability to wear required personal protective equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, gloves, dust protection, and work boots.
· Ability to follow safe lifting practices, machine guarding requirements, lockout/tagout procedures, and company safety rules., * Driver's License (Preferred)
