Job description

We are seeking an experienced Lead Automotive Technician to support an advanced vehicle technology program. This hands-on leadership role is responsible for overseeing daily technician activities while performing vehicle diagnostics, testing, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair. The Lead Technician will serve as a technical resource for the team, helping ensure work is completed safely, efficiently, and to established quality standards., * Lead daily technician activities, providing technical guidance, mentorship, and training to team members.

  • Perform advanced vehicle diagnostics, troubleshooting, maintenance, testing, and repair on development and test vehicles.
  • Utilize OEM scan tools, manufacturer diagnostic software, and related equipment to identify and resolve vehicle issues.
  • Execute Linux command-line test procedures and accurately interpret diagnostic test results.
  • Review, document, and communicate findings from troubleshooting and repair activities.
  • Follow established repair and testing procedures while maintaining accurate records of work performed.
  • Collaborate closely with engineering and technical teams to investigate vehicle issues and support development activities.
  • Maintain shop organization, inventory, tooling, and overall operational efficiency.
  • Ensure compliance with safety standards, quality requirements, and established processes.
  • Review repair documentation and verify completed work meets quality expectations.

Requirements

The ideal candidate combines strong automotive diagnostic expertise with leadership experience and is comfortable working with OEM diagnostic tools, vehicle systems, and Linux-based test procedures. This role offers the opportunity to work in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment supporting cutting-edge vehicle development efforts., * Experience leading, mentoring, or training technicians in an automotive, fleet, EV, robotics, aerospace, or similar technical environment.

  • Strong hands-on automotive technician experience, including diagnostics, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair.
  • Proficiency using OEM scan tools and manufacturer diagnostic software.
  • Experience executing Linux command-line tests and interpreting results.
  • Comfortable working with computers, diagnostic software, and technical systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret wiring diagrams, service manuals, schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Strong documentation skills, including repair orders, inspection reports, diagnostic findings, and repair procedures.
  • Experience maintaining shop organization, inventory, tooling, and equipment.
  • Strong mechanical aptitude and experience using hand and power tools.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience supporting autonomous vehicle, advanced driver assistance systems (ADAS), or electric vehicle programs.
  • Advanced vehicle diagnostic and troubleshooting experience.
  • Experience installing, calibrating, or validating sensors and related vehicle hardware.
  • Previous shop leadership or workflow coordination experience.
  • IPC-610 and/or IPC-620 certifications.
  • Experience with component wiring, electrical troubleshooting, and system integration.
  • Background in fleet operations, vehicle testing, robotics, or emerging vehicle technologies.
