Job description
Location: Hybrid - Washington, DC. Candidates must be within 100 miles of the site to attend meetings or as required by customer request from time to time; this is otherwise a remote role. Employer: JLGOV, in support of a federal client (Congressional Budget Office), JLGOV is seeking a Full Stack Software Developer to design, build, and maintain modern web applications supporting our federal client's internal workflows and analytical pipelines, working within an established trunk-based development model. Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be U.S. citizens. No Citizenship sponsorship, * Developing RESTful APIs using Python/FastAPI, with validation, error handling, and OpenAPI documentation
- Building responsive, Section 508-accessible front ends using ReactJS
- Designing and maintaining PostgreSQL data models, queries, and migrations
- Committing small, frequent, peer-reviewed changes within a trunk-based workflow using short-lived branches and feature flags
- Packaging applications with Docker and supporting deployment to AWS (ECS/EKS or equivalent)
- Writing automated unit, integration, and regression tests (pytest, Jest/React Testing Library)
- Investigating and resolving defects, performance issues, and security vulnerabilities across the stack
- Maintaining technical documentation, ADRs, and developer setup guides
- Participating in sprint ceremonies and stakeholder demos, * Deliver sprint-based features, fixes, and tests on a bi-weekly cadence
- Contribute pipeline-compatible code (CI/CD/IaC knowledge is a plus, not a primary duty)
- Support knowledge transfer and final documentation at engagement close
Clearance
Position requires ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government Public Trust clearance (specific level to be confirmed based on client determination)
Requirements
Demonstrated hands-on proficiency across the full stack: Python, FastAPI, ReactJS, PostgreSQL, and Docker, with working familiarity of core AWS services (EC2, S3, RDS, CloudWatch, IAM, VPC)
Years of Experience
Minimum 3-5 years of professional full stack development experience
Preferred Education
Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field
Substitute Education
Additional relevant professional development experience may be substituted for a degree on a year-for-year basis, No certifications are mandated by the solicitation for this role. AWS Certified Developer or equivalent is a plus but not required.
