Clay Modeler

Linkage Design is seeking an experienced Clay Modeler to support the development of future vehicle concepts and production programs. This role is responsible for creating and refining high-quality scale and full-size clay models that accurately capture design intent while meeting engineering and manufacturing requirements.

The ideal candidate will work closely with design and engineering teams to develop exterior and interior vehicle surfaces, translate sketches and digital data into physical models, and ensure the highest standards of form, proportion, and craftsmanship. This individual will play a key role in evaluating surface quality, resolving design challenges, and supporting the progression of vehicle programs from concept through production., * Sculpt and develop scale and full-size clay models for concept and production vehicle programs.

• Apply and shape clay on armatures using established modeling techniques and tools.
• Interpret design data, templates, and engineering information to create accurate physical models.
• Validate dimensional accuracy using measurement and data acquisition tools.
• Refine surfaces, forms, and character lines to achieve design intent and production feasibility.
• Collaborate with design, engineering, and leadership teams to resolve styling and engineering challenges.
• Support model reviews and presentations by implementing design changes and enhancements.
• Mentor junior modeling personnel and share best practices when needed.
• Stay current on industry trends, vehicle design developments, and emerging modeling technologies.

• 10+ years of automotive clay modeling experience.
• Strong expertise in vehicle surfacing, form development, and character line execution.
• Proven ability to create accurate, high-quality clay models from concept through production.
• Experience working with automotive design studios and engineering teams.
• Familiarity with digital modeling data and design visualization tools such as Alias and/or NX (UG).
• Strong attention to detail, craftsmanship, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work effectively in a collaborative environment.
• Bachelor's degree in Industrial Design, Engineering, Sculpture, Ceramics, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
