Job description
We are looking for a talented Software Engineer to design, develop, test and maintain the software applications that power our payment and remittance platform. You will work across the full development lifecycle; from requirements analysis and system design through coding, testing, deployment and ongoing maintenance to help us deliver secure, reliable and user-friendly financial products., * Design, write, test and document high-quality, secure code for our web and mobile payment applications and supporting back-end services.
- Develop and maintain APIs and integrations with payment networks, banking partners, KYC/AML screening providers and third-party services.
- Analyse business and user requirements and translate them into technical specifications and working software.
- Investigate, diagnose and resolve software defects and production issues, ensuring high platform availability.
- Implement automated testing (unit, integration and end-to-end) and participate in code reviews to maintain engineering standards.
- Build software that complies with financial services security and regulatory requirements, including data protection (UK GDPR), PSD2/Payment Services Regulations and PCI DSS principles.
- Collaborate with product, compliance and operations teams in an agile development environment, contributing to sprint planning, estimation and retrospectives.
- Maintain clear technical documentation and contribute to the continuous improvement of our development processes and tooling.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree (or equivalent RQF Level 6) in Computer Science, Software Engineering or a related discipline, OR demonstrable equivalent professional experience in software development.
- Proven commercial experience designing, developing and maintaining production software applications.
- Strong proficiency in one or more modern programming languages (e.g. JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, Java, Kotlin, Swift or C#) and associated frameworks.
- Solid understanding of RESTful API design, relational and NoSQL databases, and version control (Git).
- Experience writing automated tests and working within CI/CD pipelines.
- Sound grasp of secure coding practices and handling of sensitive data.
- Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail and the ability to communicate technical concepts clearly.
- Right to work in the UK, or eligibility for sponsorship under the UK Skilled Worker route.
Desirable
- Experience in fintech, payments, remittances, banking or another regulated environment.
- Familiarity with mobile app development (Android/iOS) or cross-platform frameworks (e.g. React Native, Flutter).
- Exposure to cloud platforms (AWS, Azure or GCP) and containerised deployments (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Understanding of AML/KYC workflows, fraud prevention or transaction monitoring systems., * Bachelor's (required)
