Job description
A client in Phoenix, AZ is seeking a Data Architect to support key initiatives within their enterprise Data Platform (DP2.0) transformation. This individual will serve as a true architect, partnering with business, product, governance, and engineering teams to design scalable enterprise data solutions that enable trusted, reusable data products across the organization. Responsibilities include:
- Designing enterprise data models, dimensional models, and canonical data structures across multiple business domains
- Analyzing source systems, profiling data, and creating source-to-target mappings
- Establishing data standards, governance frameworks, and architectural best practices
- Defining data ingestion, transformation, and storage strategies within a Medallion/Lakehouse architecture
- Collaborating with Data Engineers and Platform Engineers to translate architecture into scalable solutions
- Partnering with business stakeholders to understand requirements and align architecture with business objectives
- Driving enterprise-wide consistency, reusability, and scalability across the data platform
Requirements
Strong dimensional modeling expertise (facts, dimensions, canonical models)
- Ability to understand business problems before designing technical solutions
- Architecture-first mindset versus an engineering-first mindset
- Source system analysis and source-to-target mapping experience
- Strong communication and stakeholder alignment skills
- Medallion and Lakehouse Architecture experience
- Enterprise-scale thinking focused on standards, governance, and reusability, Heavy ETL developer who focuses on implementation rather than design
- Relies on tools without demonstrating strong architectural thinking
- Struggles to communicate with business stakeholders or lead architectural discussions, * 5+ years of Data Architecture experience with a strong focus on enterprise data modeling and data warehouse design
- Deep expertise in dimensional modeling including facts, dimensions, conformed dimensions, grain definition, slowly changing dimensions, business keys, and surrogate keys
- Experience analyzing source systems, conducting data profiling, defining source-to-target mappings, and understanding data lineage
- Strong understanding of Medallion Architecture, Lakehouse Architecture, and modern enterprise data platforms
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills with the ability to translate business needs into scalable architectural solutions

- Databricks experience
- ERWIN, ER/Studio, or other data modeling tools
- Retail, merchandising, finance, supply chain, loyalty, or POS data experience
- Azure Data Platform experience
- Experience supporting enterprise data governance initiatives
