Storage Specialist

The Storage Specialist will optimize the accuracy, configuration, density, and efficiency of storage locations in DLA WMS and the physical warehouse while collaborating with Government storage and planography personnel., + Collaborate with the Government Storage Specialist and Government Storage Analyst to maintain accurate physical and systemic storage-location data.

• Verify that WMS bin locations accurately reflect physical dimensions, characteristics, restrictions, and approved use.

• Ensure storage locations follow the approved naming schema and are properly labeled, marked, and represented on planography drawings.

• Monitor compliance with general warehousing and storage requirements, including storage compatibility, location discipline, accessibility, stock readiness, and material protection.

• Identify occupied WMS locations below 50 percent density, measured by system volume, and direct or recommend rewarehousing actions.

• Consolidate multiple locations for the same material, improve overall storage density, reduce travel and pick time for faster-moving material, and create capacity for new inductions.

• Analyze location, cube, velocity, utilization, and material-characteristic data to support stock positioning and storage optimization.

• Coordinate bin-to-bin moves, WMS updates, labeling, planography changes, and quality checks to ensure physical-system alignment.

• Support storage audits, location surveys, inventory accuracy, discrepancy research, workload planning, and continuous improvement., As designated Key Personnel, the employee must be available, upon notification, to meet Government personnel on-site within one hour during normal duty hours and within two hours outside normal duty hours, unless in an approved excused-absence status. The position may also require extended hours, alternate shifts, emergency response, continuity operations, holiday on-call support, and work during heightened force-protection conditions.

• At least three years of warehouse-operations experience comparable in size and complexity to the contemplated effort.

• At least two years of experience using automated warehouse management systems within the past five years.

• Experience maintaining or analyzing storage locations, bin data, stock positioning, warehouse layout, density, or space utilization.

• Ability to interpret warehouse-location data, dimensions, material characteristics, labeling requirements, and planography drawings.

• Strong analytical, organizational, problem-solving, documentation, and coordination skills.

SECURITY, SUITABILITY, AND ACCESS REQUIREMENTS

• Must be eligible for access to a DoD installation and successfully complete the Government-required Moderate Risk Personnel Security Investigation and suitability process for a public trust or sensitive position.

• Must be able obtain and maintain a DoD Common Access Card (CAC), installation identification badge, PKI token, and controlled-area access, as applicable to assigned duties., + Experience with DLA WMS and/or DSS, storage-location maintenance, stock positioning, planography, rewarehousing, weight-and-cube data, or Government distribution operations.

• Experience improving storage density, pick efficiency, location accuracy, or warehouse capacity.
