Job description
We are seeking an experienced Lead IT Project Manager to lead a high-impact enterprise initiative focused on Cryptography and Data Protection Governance. This role will oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of a strategic security program while partnering with executive leadership, engineering, security, governance, and external vendors. The ideal candidate combines strong project management expertise with hands-on knowledge of cryptography and data protection concepts. This is not a technical implementation role-it requires someone who can guide discussions, translate business requirements, manage cross-functional initiatives, and drive successful project delivery. Key Responsibilities Lead multiple medium-to-large IT projects from planning through completion. Own project scope, schedule, budget, risks, dependencies, and resource planning. Drive delivery of a strategic Cryptography & Data Protection initiative, ensuring milestones and governance checkpoints are achieved. Collaborate with business leaders, security teams, engineering, governance teams, and third-party vendors. Translate business objectives into clear project requirements, roadmaps, and delivery plans. Develop and maintain project documentation including project charters, schedules, status reports, risk registers, and work breakdown structures. Track project performance, financials, and key metrics while providing executive-level status updates. Identify project risks, resolve issues, and escalate concerns when appropriate. Facilitate cross-functional meetings and drive alignment among stakeholders. Ensure projects follow established operational standards and project management best practices. Lead project closeout activities, including documentation of lessons learned. Top Required Skills (Ranked) Project management experience supporting Cryptography and/or Data Protection initiatives with enough technical understanding to guide discussions and project direction. Proven ability to lead large, cross-functional enterprise projects involving multiple stakeholders and vendors.
Requirements
Strong communication and executive presentation skills with the ability to remove roadblocks, drive alignment, and manage competing priorities. Preferred Qualifications 5+ years of IT Project Management experience. Experience delivering enterprise security or governance initiatives in regulated environments. Experience managing AI-enabled or emerging technology initiatives. Strong understanding of: Cryptography Data Protection Data Security Posture Management (DSPM) IT integrations Security governance Experience producing business analysis and project management deliverables, including: Business requirements Roadmaps Risk assessments Dependency tracking Executive reporting Experience working with third-party technology vendors. Familiarity with Agile, Scrum, and the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). Experience with Microsoft Office and standard project management tools. Education Bachelor's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience. Preferred Certification Project Management Professional (PMP) certification preferred. Ideal Candidate The successful candidate is a strategic project leader who can bridge business and technical teams. They have enough knowledge of Cryptography and Data Protection to contribute to project direction while focusing on governance, planning, stakeholder management, and successful execution rather than hands-on engineering or solution development. Additional Notes Remote position with preference for candidates working Eastern or Central Time Zone business hours. Experience in regulated industries is highly desirable. Required: Demonstrated experience managing projects involving Cryptography and/or Data Protection. This is a leadership-focused Project Manager/Business Analyst role and is not a hands-on engineering, architecture, or software development position.
