Job description

The Programmer - Advanced will develop, maintain, and enhance software applications while adhering to strict security and compliance requirements. This role requires a skilled programmer with experience in a hybrid work environment, supporting the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles (SCDMV) with a 12-month contract and the possibility of extension. Responsibilities:

  • Develop, test, and maintain software applications according to project requirements.
  • Collaborate with team members and management to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Adhere to security protocols and complete required background and driving record checks.
  • Participate in virtual interviews and comply with hiring and onboarding procedures.
  • Work on-site or remotely as directed by project management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in a relevant field.
  • Proven experience as a non-managerial programmer with advanced skills.
  • Ability to pass a 7-year standard background and credit history check.
  • 7-year certified driving record (MVR) clearance.
  • Eligibility to work verified through E-Verify.
  • Current residency in South Carolina, North Carolina, or Georgia.
  • Willingness to relocate to South Carolina at own expense prior to start date.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience working in government or public sector IT environments.
  • Familiarity with hybrid work models and virtual collaboration tools.
  • Additional programming languages or certifications relevant to the department's technology stack.

Special Considerations:

  • Must successfully complete all required security screenings before employment.
  • Candidate must provide a valid Right to Represent and submit required documentation.

  • Sub vendor usage is limited to one level deep and requires prior approval.
