Job description

As a Database Developer (ADABAS / NATURAL), you will be responsible for the analysis, design, development, enhancement, testing, maintenance, and support of enterprise mainframe applications. You will work with business users, technical teams, and system stakeholders to maintain critical operational systems, troubleshoot production issues, implement system enhancements, and ensure applications continue to meet both technical and business requirements. This role requires strong expertise in ADABAS and NATURAL development, mainframe technologies, and application support within a complex enterprise environment., * Analyze, design, develop, and maintain enterprise mainframe applications using NATURAL and ADABAS.

  • Modify existing programs and develop new functionality to support evolving business requirements.
  • Troubleshoot, diagnose, and resolve application defects, system issues, and performance concerns.
  • Maintain and support production applications to ensure reliable and efficient operation.
  • Perform system testing, integration testing, and support user acceptance testing activities.
  • Debug programs and implement fixes based on testing results and user feedback.
  • Collaborate with business users and technical teams to gather requirements and evaluate enhancement requests.
  • Assess opportunities for system upgrades, modernization, and process improvements.
  • Participate in product design reviews to ensure compliance with quality standards and technical specifications.
  • Prepare and maintain technical documentation, operational procedures, and end-user support materials.
  • Provide status updates and communicate project progress to management and stakeholders.
  • Utilize mainframe tools and utilities to support application deployment, maintenance, and monitoring.
  • Support file transfer, batch processing, and job scheduling activities within the mainframe environment.
  • Recommend development tools, software upgrades, and technical improvements.
  • Provide production support and participate in after-hours support activities when required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years of hands-on experience with NATURAL software development.
  • Minimum 5 years of experience with ADABAS database development and support.
  • Strong experience designing, developing, testing, and maintaining mainframe applications.
  • Experience with TSO and mainframe development environments.
  • Strong knowledge of JCL (Job Control Language).
  • Experience working with FTP and file transfer processes in enterprise environments.
  • Experience with COBOL development and support.
  • Strong troubleshooting, debugging, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Experience supporting production systems and resolving application defects.
  • Ability to analyze business requirements and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Experience performing system testing and supporting User Acceptance Testing (UAT).
  • Strong technical documentation and process documentation skills.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively with business stakeholders, technical teams, and support staff.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Self-motivated and capable of working independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications including Outlook, Excel, and Word.
  • Experience with SQL Server database development and administration preferred.
  • Experience supporting large-scale enterprise business applications preferred.
  • Experience evaluating and implementing system enhancements and modernization initiatives preferred.
  • Familiarity with government, transportation, licensing, or public-sector systems preferred.
