Job description

As a Technical Field Support Specialist, you will serve as a vital link between complex transportation hardware and the end-users who rely on it. You will leverage your expertise in electronics diagnostics and repair to ensure mission-critical systems remain operational, providing both hands-on bench work and onsite field assistance to maintain high-performance standards. Responsibilities

  • Execute precise board-level electronics repairs and bench diagnostics using advanced testing instrumentation.
  • Deploy and calibrate sophisticated onboard equipment at client facilities to guarantee optimal system integration.
  • Provide rapid-response troubleshooting for hardware failures to minimize operational downtime.
  • Act as a primary technical consultant, guiding clients through complex maintenance and calibration protocols.
  • Collaborate with engineering departments to refine product reliability and contribute to design improvements.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive service logs and technical documentation to ensure accurate reporting.
  • Design custom test fixtures to streamline departmental validation and quality assurance workflows.

Requirements

  • Associate degree in a technical field or equivalent professional training.
  • Minimum of 4 years of hands-on experience in electronics repair, field service, or technical support.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in troubleshooting and repairing electronic assemblies in a laboratory or shop environment.
  • Strong analytical mindset with the ability to resolve complex technical issues independently.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with a focus on delivering high-quality customer service.
  • Ability to travel to various customer sites as required by project demands., * Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related discipline.
  • Direct experience with rail or locomotive industry systems, including air brake technology.
  • Proficiency with Linux or QNX operating systems.
  • IPC soldering certification and advanced network communication knowledge.
  • Proven ability to manage technical projects with minimal oversight.
