Java Software Engineer

For a Belgian fintech company, we're looking for a Senior Java Developer to join a team building a real-time transaction monitoring platform. This is more than a traditional Java role: you'll help shape how AI is integrated into the software delivery lifecycle while maintaining high standards for software quality, security and engineering excellence.

What you'll be working on

• Design, develop and maintain Java-based backend services
• Build scalable microservices and event-driven solutions
• Contribute to real-time transaction processing systems
• Explore and implement AI-assisted development practices across the software delivery lifecycle
• Collaborate on architecture, solution design and engineering best practices
• Write clean, maintainable and well-tested code
• Participate in technical discussions, code reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
• Work closely with analysts, architects and fellow engineers in an Agile environment

• 3+ years of professional Java development experience
• Strong knowledge of the Spring ecosystem
• Experience building REST APIs and microservices
• Passion for software craftsmanship and engineering best practices
• Interest in AI-assisted software development and modern developer tooling
• Familiarity with testing practices such as TDD or BDD
• Experience working in Agile teams
• Strong communication skills and a collaborative mindset

Experience with messaging systems, container platforms, cloud technologies or AI/ML integrations is considered a strong plus.
