Job description

As an FPGA Engineer, you will:

  • Work collaboratively with experts in the field to design and implement Firmware for advanced digital systems.
  • Utilise design tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM.
  • Apply knowledge of FPGA architectures including Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
  • Integrate fast interfaces such as PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD into designs.
  • Generate auto code using model-driven engineering with Matlab and Simulink tools.
  • Derive detailed Firmware requirements and architecture from system requirements.
  • Adopt a structured approach to firmware design, aligned with standards such as RTCA DO-254 or similar.

Requirements

The ideal candidate will have experience in:

  • Design tools such as Xilinx, TCL, Verilog, System Verilog, and UVM.
  • FPGA architectures like Xilinx 7, Xilinx UltraScale, Intel (Altera), or Microsemi (Actel).
  • Fast interfaces, including PCIe, Ethernet, and JESD.
  • Model-driven engineering using Matlab and Simulink tools.
  • Deriving Firmware requirements and architecture from system specifications.
  • Applying cryptography and anti-tamper techniques.
  • Utilising artificial intelligence, machine learning, and genetic algorithms.
  • Employing electronics test methods and equipment.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Working cohesively in mixed discipline teams.
  • Holding an HNC/HND or Undergraduate Degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, AI, Games Programming, Physics, or Applied Physics; or equivalent practical experience.
