Job description
We are seeking a Senior MEICA & Commissioning Engineer to lead, plan, and deliver complex mechanical, electrical, and process engineering projects across the full lifecycle. Working on behalf of a leading Tier 1 infrastructure delivery partner, you will act as the technical and operational bridge between design, site construction, supply chain, and the ultimate water utility client.
You will hold end-to-end accountability for MEICA and commissioning scopes ensuring safety, quality, budget, and programme targets are met while optimising value through standardisation and best practices., * Project Delivery & Commissioning: Lead the MEICA and commissioning lifecycle from Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) through design review, installation, testing, and formal client handover.
- Interface & Risk Management: Identify and resolve interface, outage, and coordination challenges between design, civil/site teams, and client operations. Maintain the Risk & Opportunity Register.
- Compliance & Technical Quality: Ensure all subcontract technical specifications and activities comply with British Standards, WIMES, and water utility specifications.
- Handover Documentation: Lead the collation and sign-off of commissioning manuals, ACD folders, O&M documentation, quality plans, ITPS, and test check sheets.
- Stakeholder & Client Liaison: Represent the delivery team in major workshops and progress meetings, providing expert guidance to client representatives, asset integrator, and discipline leads.
- Safety & Authorised Person Duties: Promote strict Health, Safety & Environmental (SHE) standards on site. Carry out duties as an LV Authorised Person (Electrical or Mechanical) where required.
Requirements
- 10+ Years' Experience: Proven track record in MEICA design, delivery, and commissioning within complex UK Water & Wastewater process plants (Tier 1 main contractor background strongly preferred).
- Authorised Person: Previous experience operating as a Mechanical or Electrical Authorised Person (AP) on complex infrastructure.
- Life cycle Expertise: In-depth knowledge of ECI, de-risking, RAMS review, quality control, and system integration.
- Mandatory Qualifications:
- HNC / Engineering Apprenticeship in a relevant discipline (Mechanical or Electrical).
- CSCS / ECS Card.
- Site Management Safety Training Scheme (SMSTS).
- First Aid at Work.
- Thames Water Passport & National Water Hygiene (Blue Card).
- Communication: Exceptional stakeholder management skills with the ability to lead multi-disciplinary teams and converse confidently with client operations.
