Job description

Cybersecurity is essential to protecting the Air Force's ability to command, control, and execute operations across today's increasingly contested battlespace. This position supports the Air Force Life Cycle Management Center (AFLCMC), Command, Control, Communications (C3C) Directorate, Kessel Run Division by providing cybersecurity engineering support for the Air Operations Center (AOC) mission. Working alongside Government personnel, you will help secure mission-critical systems that enable the Department of the Air Force Battle Network (DAF BATTLE NETWORK) to deliver resilient command and control capabilities that provide warfighters with a decisive operational advantage.

Kessel Run is an Air Force software development organization responsible for rapidly delivering resilient command and control and targeting capabilities that connect weapon systems, operators, and decision makers. As part of the Department of the Air Force Program Executive Office for Command, Control, Communications, and Battle Management (DAF PEO C3BM), Kessel Run develops technologies that enable the Joint Force to make operational decisions faster than our adversaries in an era of great power competition.

In this role, you will support the implementation, operation, and maintenance of the Assured Compliance Assessment Solution (ACAS) suite while assisting with enterprise vulnerability management, compliance assessments, and cybersecurity operations. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Assist with the installation, configuration, and maintenance of the Tenable ACAS suite, including Nessus Scanners, Security Center/Tenable.sc, and Nessus Network Monitor (NNM)/Tenable.asm.
  • Schedule and execute vulnerability scans across enterprise systems.
  • Analyze vulnerability scan results to identify security vulnerabilities, configuration weaknesses, and compliance issues.
  • Assist with compliance assessments against Department of Defense standards and organizational security policies.
  • Generate reports detailing vulnerability status, compliance posture, and remediation progress.
  • Collaborate with system administrators and technical teams to facilitate vulnerability remediation activities.
  • Assist with system administration of ACAS servers and supporting databases.
  • Monitor emerging cybersecurity threats, vulnerabilities, and industry best practices.
  • Maintain documentation supporting cybersecurity operations, vulnerability management, and compliance activities.
  • Support continuous improvement of the organization's cybersecurity posture through proactive vulnerability assessment and risk reduction efforts.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Cybersecurity, or a related technical field.

Years of Experience: Five (5) to seven (7) years of experience in cybersecurity or a closely related information technology discipline., * Basic understanding of networking concepts and protocols.

  • Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to work effectively within a collaborative cybersecurity environment.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with the Tenable ACAS suite, including Nessus, Security Center/Tenable.sc, and Nessus Network Monitor (NNM)/Tenable.asm.
  • Security+ or other applicable DoD cybersecurity certification.
  • Experience with scripting languages such as Python or PowerShell.
  • Familiarity with Department of Defense cybersecurity policies, procedures, and vulnerability management processes.

Travel: Limited travel may be required in support of program objectives.

Security Clearance Required: Active Secret Security Clearance.
