Job description
We are seeking a Full Stack Developer to support application development initiatives within BNY's Corporate Trust business. The ideal candidate will bring strong hands-on experience in Core Java, Spring Boot, Angular, SQL-based databases, and modern development practices, along with the ability to work independently, provide technical guidance, and contribute across the full software delivery lifecycle.
This role offers a hybrid schedule based in Pittsburgh, PA, with 4 days onsite per week and standard working hours of Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.
Key Responsibilities:

Full Stack Application Development: Design, build, and support full stack applications using Core Java, Spring Boot, Angular, and SQL-based databases to meet business and client needs.

Backend Microservices Engineering: Develop and enhance RESTful microservices using Spring Boot and related enterprise development frameworks, with a strong focus on scalability, maintainability, and performance.

Frontend Development: Build and support front-end applications using Angular, contributing to user-facing functionality and overall application usability.

End-to-End Delivery Ownership: Take ownership of development work from requirements through implementation, including both front-end and back-end delivery, ensuring solutions are completed with quality and consistency.

Data & Reporting Support: Contribute to data-heavy application workflows, including Snowflake procedures, exception handling, and support for reporting solutions such as KPI metrics and Power BI outputs.

Quality Engineering & Test Coverage: Maintain a strong quality-first mindset, with a demonstrated commitment to achieving 100% unit test coverage across backend services and frontend applications.

BDD & Agile Delivery: Support Behavior-Driven Development practices using Gherkin syntax for feature files and work effectively within Agile sprint-based delivery models.

CI/CD & Automation: Contribute to CI/CD pipeline integration and promote an automation-first approach across development, testing, and deployment practices.

AI-Assisted Development: Use AI-assisted development tools such as Windsurf, Cursor, CodeX, Devon, or similar technologies to improve development workflows, code quality, design support, and test automation efficiency.

Technical Leadership & Collaboration: Work independently with minimal supervision, perform code reviews, provide technical guidance to junior team members, and collaborate effectively across pods, team leads, and business stakeholders.
Requirements

Bachelor's degree required

8+ years of experience in application development, including strong hands-on full stack engineering experience

Strong expertise in Core Java and Spring Framework

Strong hands-on experience building RESTful microservices using Spring Boot

Strong hands-on experience developing front-end applications using Angular

Strong database development experience with SQL, Snowflake, Oracle, or related platforms

Experience with BDD using Gherkin syntax for feature files

Proven experience integrating CI/CD pipelines with an automation-first mindset

Practical experience with AI-assisted development tools such as Windsurf or similar GenAI-enabled developer tools
Preferred Experience:

Experience with automation and performance testing tools such as Playwright and JMeter

Experience using Zephyr Scale for test management and traceability

Financial services experience, especially with loan products or related platforms

Experience supporting data-driven applications with reporting or KPI metric development

Exposure to Power BI reporting and Snowflake-heavy environments is a plus
