Job description

  • Training, scheduling, assigning and evaluating work.
  • Maintains VCIN/NCIC file system and assists with cross checking VCIN entries for accuracy.
  • Enters data into the Virginia Criminal Information Network (VCIN).
  • Assists with ensuring that all staff certifications are maintained and re-certifications are scheduled accordingly.
  • Trains department personnel and outside agencies in VCIN certifications.
  • Identifies, troubleshoots, and resolves VCIN issues.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned., In accordance with City policy, this position is deemed safety-sensitive. As such, applicants for this position are subject to pre-employment drug/alcohol testing after receiving a conditional offer of employment and may also be subject to random testing. This drug test includes testing for marijuana. EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENT: In addition to satisfying the vocational/education standards, this position requires a minimum of two years of related, full-time equivalent experience.

SPECIAL CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES: Requires a Full Access level VCIN operator certification upon hire and General Instructor certification within one year of hire. Must be a United States citizen or a lawful resident for the past 10 consecutive years. Must be a United States citizen or a lawful resident for the past 10 consecutive years. Requires a valid driver's license and a driving record that is in compliance with the City Driving Standards. SPECIAL REQUIREMENT: This job classification provides service to the community on an 18-hour basis during various hours of the day and night.
