Job description

AIGENT is a four-year project funded by the European Commission and develops a pan-European infrastructure for AI-generated digital twins in healthcare and the living environment. It supports researchers, clinicians, housing actors, city planners, and other users by combining generative AI, secure edge processing, and high-performance computing. HITS contributes to the development of data management components and standards in collaboration with international partners. Your role

Working closely with project partners across Europe and in New Zealand, you will help develop an AI-powered application that processes data in a distributed, privacy-preserving way., * Development of an AI-enabled web application based on Ruby on Rails and FAIRDOM SEEK leveraging modern web technologies and authentication methods

  • Working closely with software developers and domain experts within HITS as well as across national and international partner organizations
  • Active participation in discussions and meetings, with opportunities to present project results at international workshops and conferences

Requirements

  • (University) Degree in Computer Science, another STEM discipline, or a comparable qualification.
  • Experience in:
  • extending and adapting existing software components;
  • user-driven, agile software development;
  • developing and implementing privacy-preserving data management solutions;
  • working in interdisciplinary and international research environments.
  • Ideally, experience with:
  • data management solutions for healthcare and/or life science data;
  • collaborative, multi-partner software development in distributed research projects.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and spoken; knowledge of German is an advantage.

About the company

The Heidelberg Institute for Theoretical Studies (HITS), was established 2010 by SAP co-founder Klaus Tschira (1940-2015) and the Klaus Tschira foundation as a private, non-profit research institute.
