Job description

As a Specialist System Administrator in our Bare Metal (BM) Service Platform Operations team, you will ensure the smooth operation, high availability, and continuous development of our BM platform. This platform delivers high-performance computing and storage solutions for our customers and is a key part of IONOS infrastructure. You will work on designing, implementing, and maintaining the BM platform while collaborating with multiple teams to ensure stability, security, and scalability. Your work will involve troubleshooting complex technical issues, automating processes, and improving platform performance. Join an international, open-minded, and collaborative team of five, located in Germany, the US, and other locations, working closely with SRE, Networking, Storage, Database, and Project Management teams., Operate, monitor, and ensure 24x7 high availability of the BM platform. Design, implement, and maintain infrastructure to enhance stability, security, and scalability. Automate platform operations using Ansible and GitLab, and support CI/CD pipelines. Troubleshoot and resolve complex technical issues across multiple systems. Manage incidents and service requests via JIRA and maintain operational documentation. Participate in a 24x7 on-call rotation (approx. 1 week in a month). Collaborate with multiple teams to align on infrastructure, networking, and platform initiatives.

Requirements

3+ years of system administration experience, including at least 2 years in a bare-metal or dedicated server environment. Strong Linux knowledge (Debian, Ubuntu, CentOS, RHEL). Experience with hardware-level management (IPMI, iDRAC) and server orchestration. Proven troubleshooting and problem-solving skills for complex issues. Experience with automation tools (Ansible, GitLab CI/CD; Puppet is a plus) and scripting (Bash, Python, or similar). Familiarity with monitoring and logging tools (Grafana, ELK, Graylog). Fluent english to communicate with the team Team player with strong communication skills, adaptability, and a self-driven mindset. Desirable Experience: Containerization/virtualization technologies (Proxmox, Docker, Kubernetes). SQL databases (MariaDB, MySQL, Postgres). Networking protocols (TCP/IP, BGP, DHCP, PXE) and storage solutions (Ceph). Relevant Linux or cloud computing certifications.
