For our Service center in Spain, we are looking for a flexible and highly motivated Control Software Engineer to strengthen our multi-disciplinary Engineering team. If you like working in a dynamic environment, developing traction application software for a wide range of vehicles and applications such as trams, locomotives, trains, maintenance vehicles, energy storage systems, mixing technical challenges and customer focus, this opportunity is for you! You will be located at the customer's site and act as first level support for SW problems, taking time to understand the bug the customer has, gathering and analyzing data, and providing troubleshooting for the ABB converters. You will make good, but considerate use of your colleague's contacts in case you need additional information to continue the troubleshooting.

Using already prepared SW and documents you make necessary adaptations and extensions to address the customer needs, while respecting the defined standards and homologation requirements

Testing and troubleshooting software in diverse environments and support our customers during commissioning and homologation on the vehicle. For these activities you are willing to travel to a high extent. Night shifts and weekend work are likely to be needed.

Coordinating the technical solutions with your peers to maximize re-utilization of SW, minimizing the risk of bugs and accelerating standardization

Requirements
- You have a University (Higher education) degree in Control Systems, Electrical Engineering, Mechatronics, Computer Science or equivalent.
- You bring a minimum of 4 years of working experience in SW development for closed loop control, signal processing, algorithms, real time programming mechanisms, commissioning.
- You have experience with IEC 61131-3 programming languages (CODESYS) and Matlab Simulink.
- You have knowledge of SW Versioning tools (SVN, Git).
- You have broad knowledge of converter control, power electronics or automotive.
- You have experience with communication protocols and field bus (CAN, TRDP, J1939, MVB, …).
- This is a plus if you bring some understanding of SW development processes standards (like EN 50657, EN 50128 or IS0 26262).
- You show strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Spanish.
