Job description
Senior Backend EngineerLivestorm is looking for a Senior Backend Engineer to design and build scalable backend services in Go, help shape our evolving service?based architecture, and collaborate closely with product, design, and engineering teams.ResponsibilitiesDesign and build backend services in Go, APIs, SDKs, and event?driven systems.Own architectural decisions: define service boundaries, data models, API contracts, and patterns.Work with Product Managers and Designers to understand requirements, explore solutions, and align technical implementations with user needs.Drive API and SDK ergonomics so the platform is a pleasure for engineers to build on.Lead cross?team technical initiatives and align engineering and product stakeholders around shared goals.Contribute to build?vs?buy decisions on infrastructure, choosing practical approaches.Mentor and provide technical guidance through design reviews, pair programming, and direct feedback.Champion good practices in testing, observability, CI/CD, and backend reliability.Document technical designs, processes, and system architecture.Navigate ambiguity to define solutions when requirements are still forming.Technical StackArchitecture: Service?based, moving from a monolith to well?defined, independently deployable services.Languages: Go (primary), Ruby and Ruby on Rails for the existing system.API layer: gRPC, GraphQL gateway, REST.Data & messaging: PostgreSQL, Redis, Kafka with Schema Registry, Elasticsearch.Infrastructure: Docker, Kubernetes, cloud?native deployment.Observability: Grafana with OpenTelemetry, Sentry, monitoring tooling.AI tooling: Claude Code, Copilot, Cursor.Testing: Testify, Ginkgo, Gomega for Go; RSpec for Ruby.CI/CD: Continuous integration and deployment pipelines, Git & GitHub.QualificationsDeep backend engineering expertise with a track record of designing systems at scale.Strong API design skills across REST, gRPC, and GraphQL.Experience with event?driven architectures, distributed systems, or platform layers consumed by other teams.Solid knowledge of SQL/NoSQL databases and messaging systems such as Kafka.Proficiency with Docker and Kubernetes.Product mindset with high agency, engaging with user feedback and understanding business context.Strong communication skills to discuss technical trade?offs with engineers and non?technical stakeholders.Nice to HaveRemote?first, distributed engineering environment experience.Building developer platforms, SDKs, or composable API layers for internal teams.Experience with large?scale migration patterns (strangler fig, parallel?run).Multi?tenancy and SaaS platform patterns: tenant isolation, rate limiting, platform?level security.Familiarity with real?time systems (WebRTC, media pipelines, event streaming).Open?source sensibility: building for external developers with DX, documentation, and API versioning discipline.Monitoring, SLOs, and backend observability practices.Authentication and authorization knowledge.Advanced Kubernetes or infrastructure experience.#J-*****-Ljbffr
