Job description

We are looking for a Junior IT Support Engineer to join our small, supportive help desk team. Ideally you will have around 1 year's experience in an IT support role and be ready to build on that foundation, answering client calls, working tickets, and stepping up into more complex 1st and 2nd line work with senior engineers alongside you to mentor and guide you.

Responsibilities

  • Provide first-line technical support via help desk tickets, phone, and remote sessions to clients experiencing IT issues.
  • Troubleshoot hardware problems related to computers, servers, and peripherals, including desktops, laptops, and network devices.
  • Assisting senior engineers on more complex Windows and Apple support tasks
  • Assist in the deployment and management of computer hardware and software updates.
  • Supporting Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace basics (mail, calendar, Teams, Drive, SharePoint)
  • Active Directory / Entra ID and Google Admin user administration
  • Support network infrastructure including computer networking concepts such as TCP/IP, DNS, LAN, VPNs, firewalls, and TCP protocols.
  • Manage Active Directory accounts, user permissions, and group policies to facilitate user access and security.
  • Support the configuration and maintenance of network hardware including routers, switches, and firewalls.
  • Collaborate with senior team members on complex issues requiring analysis skills or specialised knowledge.
  • Maintain clear documentation of support activities and resolutions for future reference., * Apprenticeship route available for the right candidate
  • Hybrid working after induction and initial training period
  • Mon-Fri (09:00-17:30) - occasional out of hours for planned projects
  • Full training and funded certifications - we will invest in you from day one
  • Hands-on mentoring from engineers with 20+ years' experience
  • Clear progression path from Junior to 1st/2nd Line and onwards to Senior

Requirements

  • Ideally around 1 year's experience working in an IT support role
  • Familiarity with Windows and ideally some exposure to macOS
  • Working with Microsoft 365 and Google Workspace (GSuite) - Outlook, Teams, Gmail, Drive, Calendar
  • A genuine interest in IT and a drive to learn quickly
  • Great communication skills, friendly, patient and clear
  • Well organised, reliable and happy to ask questions
  • Full UK driving licence and own transport (helpful for occasional client visits)
  • Right to work in the UK (no sponsorship)

Nice to have:

IT-related qualifications (CompTIA A+, Microsoft Fundamentals, Google Workspace Administrator, BTEC/college IT courses), or previous customer service experience., * A-Level or equivalent (required)
