Job description

  • Lead the evaluation of our next website stack and help us make a well-reasoned platform decision
  • Act as our in-house technical lead through the website redesign and rebuild, working alongside an external agency and maintaining high standards
  • Own the site day to day before and after launch, including builds, landing pages, integrations, performance, fixes and improvements
  • Work with our senior designer to bring designs to life intelligently and show the team what is possible
  • Work with our SEO lead on technical SEO so the changes that improve visibility are implemented
  • Keep the site fast and secure
  • Support our lead designer from time to time by adapting or producing digital assets when workloads peak

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on web development experience, with a portfolio that demonstrates your work
  • Deep WordPress expertise at code level, including custom themes and plugins built from scratch, custom post types, Advanced Custom Fields, and clean, well-documented, reusable code
  • Genuine experience with at least one modern alternative platform, ideally including a re-platforming decision you led or strongly influenced
  • Strong front-end skills across HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, with solid PHP and MySQL knowledge
  • Performance discipline, with lean builds measured against Core Web Vitals
  • Solid technical SEO knowledge, including schema markup, structured data and site architecture, plus an understanding of how AI search tools surface and interpret web content
  • Design literacy, including the ability to take a design from Figma to a finished build and extend a design system sensibly
  • Responsive development skills and a thorough understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform behaviour
  • Ability to commute to our office Monday to Wednesday each week, with office-based working required and hybrid working on Thursdays and Fridays by agreement
  • A full clean driving licence and access to a car, as our offices are not serviced by public transport
  • Eligibility to work in the United Kingdom

We offer a competitive salary of £45,000-£50,000 per year, a 37.5-hour working week, 25 days holiday rising to 28 with service, an extra Friday holiday each month, pension, hybrid working, staff events, wellbeing support, and free parking.
