Job description

Our website is our most important marketing channel. Around half of our pipeline starts with organic search, and we want someone to own that channel properly: the code, the performance, the technical SEO, and be part of the decisions about where it goes next.

The first big job is a full redesign and rebuild. You'll lead the technical side of that decision, including whether we rebuild on WordPress or move to something else, and you'll be the technical brain in the room when we work with an external design agency to get it built. Once it's live, the site is yours: you'll run it, improve it, and work with the wider marketing team to make it an even bigger source of business than it already is.

As the lead individual in this area, you will have real influence over how the site works, what we build next, and what's possible.

What you'll do

  • Lead the evaluation of our next website stack. We lean towards WordPress, but we want that decision made properly by someone who has been through it before and can argue the options.
  • Act as our in-house technical lead through the redesign and rebuild, working alongside an external agency and holding them to a high standard.
  • Own the site day to day before and after launch: builds, landing pages, integrations, performance, fixes and improvements.
  • Work with our senior designer to bring designs to life intelligently, and show the team what's possible rather than just what's easy.
  • Work with our SEO lead on technical SEO, so the things that make us visible get implemented.
  • Keep the site fast and secure.
  • Lend our lead designer a hand from time to time, adapting or producing digital assets when workloads peak.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of hands-on web development experience, with a portfolio that shows it.
  • Deep WordPress expertise at code level: custom themes and plugins built from scratch, custom post types, Advanced Custom Fields, and clean, well-documented, reusable code.
  • Genuine working experience of at least one modern alternative, ideally including a re-platforming decision you led or heavily influenced.
  • Strong front-end skills across HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript, with solid PHP and MySQL behind them.
  • Performance discipline: lean builds, no bloated code, measured against Core Web Vitals rather than just aware of them.
  • Solid technical SEO knowledge, including schema markup, structured data and site architecture, plus an understanding of how AI search tools like ChatGPT and Claude surface and interpret web content.
  • Design literacy: you work closely with a designer, take a design from Figma to a finished build without losing what made it good, and extend a design system sensibly on your own.
  • Responsive development and a thorough understanding of cross-browser and cross-platform behaviour.

What would make you exceptional

Not deal breakers, but skills that would be put to good use:

  • HubSpot: managing the connection between our website and HubSpot, building integrations and troubleshooting within its ecosystem
  • HTML email development: hand-coding responsive emails for greater control and quality
  • Enough design tooling ability (Figma, Adobe Creative Suite) to adapt existing creative assets when needed
  • AdTech exposure: tag management, tracking pixels and paid digital infrastructure, We are a growing business, and we need people who are open to new opportunities and experiences, ready to learn new things and help drive the business forward. The enthusiasm, honesty, and openness here is infectious and it helps us solve problems head on and be determined to find solutions, helping our customers, and improving our products.

Excellent client experience is our goal, and we need people who will do what they say, deliver on their promises and look for ways to surprise or even delight with the unexpected. If you yearn for a sense of togetherness, mutual respect, and loyalty, and will work hard as part of a community to foster a deep collaborative approach, we are the place for you., * Web development: 5 years (required)
