Job description

Morgan Hunt are delighted to be partnering with a Government organisation to recruit an experienced Senior Full Stack Java Developer on an initial 6-month contract, with a strong likelihood of extension for a further six months.

Working within an Agile, cross-functional delivery team, you'll help build modern cloud-native applications and replace complex legacy platforms using the latest Java and front-end technologies.

The Opportunity

Working across the full software development lifecycle, you'll design, develop and support modern web applications, RESTful APIs and event-driven services while collaborating closely with Developers, Architects, Product Owners and Delivery Managers.

This role offers the opportunity to work with modern technologies including Java 21, Spring Boot, React, Next.js, OpenShift, PostgreSQL and AWS, whilst contributing to long-term digital transformation programmes., * Develop high-quality Java applications using Java 17/21 and Spring Boot.

  • Design and build scalable REST APIs and microservices.
  • Develop modern, responsive front-end applications using React, Next.js, JavaScript and TypeScript.
  • Deliver cloud-native applications within an OpenShift environment.
  • Design and implement secure applications using Spring Security and OAuth 2.0.
  • Develop event-driven solutions using RabbitMQ.
  • Work with PostgreSQL and MongoDB databases.
  • Create reusable UI components and contribute to shared design systems.
  • Develop comprehensive automated test suites using Playwright.
  • Follow Test-Driven Development (TDD), Pair Programming and modern engineering best practices.
  • Contribute to CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab.
  • Monitor application performance using Grafana, Kibana and other observability tools.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and support continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and collaborate with multidisciplinary delivery teams.
  • Coach and mentor other developers where appropriate.
