Job description
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a Data Administrator to join the Health Data Research Hub Team in Cardiology, based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB).
UHB is a leading NHS Trust for digital innovation and hosts the Midlands site for Health Data Research UK. Working in partnership with the University of Birmingham, we collaborate with national and international stakeholders on a rapidly expanding digital health research portfolio.
The Data Administrator will be responsible for supporting a portfolio of research projects, including, but not limited to:
*DaRe2THINK, a National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR)-funded trial that is pioneering a new approach to the remote delivery of clinical trials across primary care settings nationwide.
*HYPERMARKER, a randomised controlled trial combining pharmacometabolomics and artificial intelligence to improve the treatment of hypertension.
The post holder will be at the forefront of clinical research delivery both within the UK and internationally. In addition, they will provide data management and research administrative support for a range of clinical study activities. This will include monitoring trial participants and ensuring the accurate collection, documentation, and maintenance of study data.
Requirements
The post holder will support the delivery of clinical trials conducted by UHB and the University of Birmingham (UoB) under the leadership of Professor Dipak Kotecha. They will contribute to the development and maintenance of clinical study databases and research patient registries for both local and national research projects. This role requires the ability to combine strong IT skills with an understanding of clinical research processes.
The team has active Public and Patient Involvement and Engagement (PPIE) programmes, which are integral to the success of our research. The post holder will play an important role in supporting these activities.
The successful candidate will possess excellent communication skills and be able to work effectively under pressure while managing competing priorities and meeting tight deadlines.
You will be comfortable communicating with individuals at all levels and across a range of organisations. Strong organisational, communication, and IT skills are essential, alongside the ability to work independently and use initiative when planning and prioritising workloads.
A good working knowledge of Good Clinical Practice (GCP), Microsoft Office applications, flexibility, and a willingness to learn are essential. Experience working in clinical trials within an NHS research environment, familiarity with research delivery systems, and experience handling healthcare data would be advantageous.
